2u2 mom's

Have you gone out alone yet? How did you do it?

Simple solution would be a double stroller. We don't have one yet. Grr. Second would be baby wearing, but I can't do that yet. Lo hated the Moby wrap and the waist band on the tula still hurts my post c/s belly. So that will be an option soon, once the c/s heals, but... how do I do it until then?

Re: 2u2 mom's

  • Well, I am 2 under 28 months so close enough!

We bought a double stroller on craigslist for $80. It is a Graco and is pretty nice. It is huge though and is hard to get in/out of the car. I also can't push it uphill for any significant amount of time because the thing is heavy.

We have been out of the house 4-5 times alone since my baby was born 4 weeks ago. We only leave the house in the morning time when the baby is sleeping. Then I pop the car seat with a sleeping baby in the double stroller and we're off. We went to the park today and fed the ducks and played on the playground. The baby woke up once so I breastfed her and she fell back asleep. The motion of the stroller lulls her to sleep too. We were there 2 hours and it went great!

  • Lol. No. Nope. Noper. Nopest.

Is this an eventual requirement of motherhood? Can I skip it? What if I have a doctor's note excusing me?

If you can't tell, I'm dreading our maiden voyage.

Have you tried the Beco? It has a super wide waist piece and actually feels GOOD to wear because it puts a nice even pressure along the incision kind of like how a tummy binder would.

My biggest fear is that my DS1 is more mobile than I am - and I'm terrified of his safety being compromised because of my slowness, inability to snatch him up quickly, etc.

  • The waist band on my tula is padded and support comfortable. It just rests on top of my internal stitches and THAT is what is painful. :( That's one of the reasons I'm so disappointed this lo doesn't like my Moby.

  • I have been out with both of them 1x and I wore DS in a wrap or a ring sling and pushed DD in a stroller.

  • I'm 2 under 28 months. I have a double stroller but it's a beast to set up. I've been using my snap and go and having my ds hold on to the stroller. He's only run away twice lol.
  • I don't have an answer, but I would like to take a moment to applaud all you 2u2 moms. Kudos, ladies! I don't know how you do it!
  • I bring my mom.  Seriously... I really do.  When I have gone out alone, I put newborn in the Boba carrier and the 23 month old in the stroller.  Other option was to go to places with a shopping cart, put toddler in the cart and wear or put the newborn in the cart and stack groceries around the toddler if I leave him in car seat on cart.  You can do it!

  • Does dropping DS off at daycare count? I have gotten them both out of the house, just not anywhere public. She doesn't fit the mei tai yet, so until then, I am nervous to go to the park alone.

How tiny is your LO? I've got Amelia in the Tula (using a blanket to M her legs and get her a tad higher instead of buying the infant insert).  Would she fit in an Ergo or a Moby? BTW, I don't blame you for not going to the park.  The park is the bane of this Mommy's existence! I despise the park with the passion of a thousand imploding suns. ;)

  • Why don't they put a fence around park playgrounds? I hate that fucking place. DS1 just wants to run EVERYWHERE like his pants are on fire, and it is EXHAUSTING. Fence that shit city council!!
