    1. How are you doing? How is your LO doing? We've had another good week!!

    2. How long have you been on the diet? Are you avoiding any other food(s)? For about 6 months, I've been avoiding all dairy, soy, eggs, nuts, beef, wheat, corn, beans, and pineapple.

    3. Any other burning questions you'd like answered or experiences to share? DD2 is doing really good with all of the solids we've introduced so far. I'm starting to feel brave like we should try to give her something directly (off my do not eat list) but then I chicken out. I know there's not some magical age that it'll be okay to try something though. Maybe we start small with.....beef? Also, the pedi mentioned yogurt as a good starter dairy as it has less proteins then others..?

    4. Where have you received the most guidance about MSPI - doctor, internet/TB, etc.? Our pediatrician has been very supportive and given us good info. TBH though, I think I've received the most guidance from TB moms and more specifically, @rocknrollfriend

  • 1. How are you doing? How is your LO doing?
I'm a mess lol! LO was just diagnosed at 4 months with CMPA after months of us telling them something was wrong. After all I heard was "your milk is what's wrong with your baby" I really want to continue BF but they offered zero support and sent us home with Nutrigamen basically telling us that was our only option. So happy I found this board.

    2. How long have you been on the diet? Are you avoiding any other food(s)?
I've been off true forms of dairy for 10 yrs but true MSPIdiet for 2 weeks.

    3. Any other burning questions you'd like answered or experiences to share?
When do you start to see improvement? I can tell her poos are better but she still cries excessively after feeds and has a lot of gas that wakes her up. She's waking every 2 hrs still.

    4. Where have you received the most guidance about MSPI - doctor, internet/TB, etc.?
NOT from my Ped that's for sure. Mostly moms I have found and reached out to.

Overall doing well. Tried to eat out while on vacation and despite my efforts, we DD had a reaction.

    2. How long have you been on the diet? Are you avoiding any other food(s)?
    Dairy/soy free for 15 weeks

I had a similar experience with DD1 and our pedi office and due to multiple circumstances ended up transitioning to formula. I was much more educated with DD2 and have been successful with BF. It took us about 6 weeks to see full improvement, but each week was better. Hang in there and if your pedi isn't supportive then maybe they're not the right fit especially if your LO is growing and gaining weight appropriately. Good luck!!

    Internet and this check-in :-)

  • @LeeLee86 Welcome! I am so sorry to hear you've had such a hard time with your pedi. What is CMPA?

For us, it took just a week of obvious dairy to see improvement with gas and spitting up, but several weeks before I saw improvement in poops and rash. My DS had more intolerances that dairy and soy though, so it took us awhile to figure it out. Generally, it can take 3 to 5 weeks for the proteins to clear out of both your systems, so give the diet at least that long to see full improvement.

GL! Your milk is what's best for your baby. Keep up the good work.

  • Thank you @rocknrollfriend‌!
CMPA cows milk protein allergy is what they called it I guess. We just got back from our first GI visit and there was no blood in the diaper so that's good news! Our GI Ped is very EBF supportive so I'm very grateful.

    @chknma‌
We are def changing Peds. Hearing your story and others, it's amazing how much you have to be your child's advocate.

    Thank you ladies!

  • So, I'm way late posting to this for the week but hopefully someone reads it. I may have posted an intro long ago not sure.

    2. I've been dairy free since DD was around 4 or 5 weeks, she's 6.5 months now.

Lately we've noticed her stool has had more mucus in it. I'm not sure if it's from the solids we recently started her on or the almond milk I reintroduced to my diet about 5 weeks ago. So far she's only had peas and bananas and not much of either though I know a small amount could still affect her. I suppose I'm going to stop with those and try a different food.

    3. I do have a question that was inspired by a post I saw elsewhere. . I read on a thread somewhere that in order for lo to outgrow the allergen she must not be exposed to it for a period of time. Is this true? DD's poop never went back to 100% normal but I heard that was common with a baby with food allergies. but now I'm worried that maybe she does have a soy allergy too and that is the reason her poo never went completely back to normal. So anyway, since I never cut out soy does that mean that she won't grow out of the allergy (if she has one) since I haven't eliminated it from my diet?

    4. I've pieced what I know from TB and the internet, my pedi hasn't seemed to have much info aside from telling me to eliminate things from my diet.

I'm going to tag @rocknrollfriend‌ because I think you gave me some info in the past and seem to be highly recommended!

  • @iwubrory I have never heard about avoiding an allergen in order to outgrow it. That sounds like a good question for the allergist! You could eliminate soy now and see if that gets rid of the mucous. It took us until DS was 7 mo to get all his intolerances figured out. He was also really sensitive to random foods as I was introducing solids... like, chickpeas and coconut milk and just about everything else used to give him a rash. He's totally outgrown all of that now. HTH!
