  I loved the book series (though I can't say I got hooked on all things Scottish). I was really looking forward to the tv series but haven't gotten around to watching it yet, probably because when I watch the little tv that I do at that time of night, I just need something trashy and brainless and don't feel like I'd be able to wrap my tired brain around it. I'm interested to hear from someone who's read the books whether the tv series is worth watching...

  Love, love, love Outlander!  I even drove 2 hours to meet the author.  

  
  

  I was so angry because around the time I was completely obsessed with the books, my sister won a free trip to Scotland through work.  I had a whole list of things for her to see, but she mostly saw the inside of pubs :-(  She said it is a beautiful country, though.

  @Momin2013 So far the TV series is following pretty true to the books.  There have been a few changes, and we are only at episode 5, but the changes have been used to kind of move the story a little faster and introduce relationships earlier.  They have done a really good job of tying Claire's past life with her current life, and showing her conflict.  I am happy with it and think the actors are starting to become the characters.

  I haven't read the books, but I am enjoying the TV series. My only complaint is that I wish I could binge watch the series because it's a lot of development. DH is watching with me, but he complains that it's too slow.

  I recently finished the first book, and I'd have to say they are sticking with the plot reasonably well.

  I have read all the books, well I am 80% through the last book. The show is following the books pretty well. I love the books! I am not as impressed with the show, but it may grow on me with time. The characters just don't match the idea I had of them in my head. I cannot say that I am obsessed about all things Scottish, but I would love to travel to Scotland.

  DH is making a valiant effort to watch the show since he knows how much I enjoyed the books.  It usually takes him 2-3 sittings to get through an episode because he falls asleep.  It just isn't his genre, and he isn't waiting in anticipation for what comes next.
