Suggestions for activity centers and EI Update

I need some suggestions for something that can take place of her jumperoo. D is seriously bored with the small amounts of time she is allowed in there. PT said because her hip isn't quite right to limit as much as possible, but my daughter loves to jump!

I got her a ball pit and will give it a few days, but she seems pretty MEH about it.

So I need some type of activity center or something she can jump
and just be silly that isn't a crotch dangler.

Now for the EI update we had our meeting today. She will be receiving sessions once a week. They are even going to send in someone to help me teach my baby to STTN and work on getting her attention spans a little bit better. I didn't realize that was possible but I'll try
whatever. Anyways I'm hoping that EI will help her catch up. Her Expressive Language is comparable to a 4 month old, so there is some catching up to do!

Her cooing only consists of Aaa sounds, and she "technically " doesn't babble meaning making consonant sounds. She also doesn't make discernible noises for when she wants things. She does make a mmm sound while crawling but that's it. She can't do anything else. She does not mimic others. She can not wave hi or bye and she doesn't clap or do peek a boo. Those are the things that got her scored so low. She does make noises though. She squeals and blows bubbles and grunts. I'll take a pic of the explanation from EI in a few.

  • Why a jumping toy? Gross motor is one of the areas where she's on track. I would try to get toys/books geared towards her weaker areas.

  • I second the sensory boxes. My LO loves them, and they keep her interested for quite awhile. I rotate between two different ones for when she gets bored.

  • @catycate‌ I was thinking about trying to start some signs with her !

As far as a toy . I wasn't looking for something to help her delays. I was just looking for something to help entertain her. She really enjoys jumping so I was trying to replace this activity with something that is more hip friendly. I will be working on getting her more sensory toys as well.

  • @catycate she does cruise and stands holding on to things. She is starting to get adventurous with letting go.

Her gross motor skills are pretty good but her right hip has some issue. So far it's not holding her back though.

  • OK- I looked up the excersaucer- it's an evenflo triple fun one- so it has everything an excersuacer does, but it makes a long activity table that she can cruise along! Maybe that would hold her attention? Also, what about a giant bucket with toys in it that she could pull out of? Dd will do that for 20 minutes, until she is on her tippy toes at the bottom. If it's any consolation, the excersaucer probably wouldn't have held her attention for much longer, as her mobility gets better and she gets more confident.

What about something like this for the pure bouncy activity

That looks like fun! I almost got her the FP Rocking Horse, but it said she should be able to get on and off herself. I wasn't sure if she would be able to.

We have a tote with a ton of toys, I will try a tall bucket. Nothing holds her attention for long, which was another thing that was discussed during her meeting. I don't understand how they can improve that , but I guess I will find out.

  • Dd loves this. https://t.toysrus.com/skava/static/product.html?type=TRU_product_us&url=/product/index.jsp?productId=11838288&domain=http://www.toysrus.com its great because the bala fall down the leg. In the begining, dd used to look to see where the balls went. Eventually she figured out if she dropped them in on top they'd fall to the bottom. It showed cause and effect. Also, sometimes the balls roll out from those slots on the bottom so she chases them. It gets her crawling. Other times, she just enjoys holding on to the top and pulling herself up and cruising around it. I cannot recommend it enough! Also it has ABC's and numbers. Love this toy!

I'd ditch the jumping toys personally. D got a rocking horse that he loves like what @Lia1301 was saying, and he loves his leap frog table, his ball pit, etc. We also have lots of books, legos and blocks, a water table and slide for outside, and a couple cheap smaller toys. He also got this leap frog dog thing that sings and says the letters of the alphebet that he really likes. I don't think anything keeps their attention for long at this stage, and he just goes from toy to toy, and I let him. I don't feel the need to keep him occupied at all times, because I feel like that helps him learn how to play independantly. He also has a drawer in the kitchen full of wooden spoons, old plastic cups, measuring cups, etc.

Do you have a consignment shop near by? I know its sort of frowned upon by ours, but honestly, a lot of times I'll take him in there, let him play and browse the toy area, and pick out whatever one he has the most interest in ($$ pending). I feel like that is a good way for me to figure out what he will like! I've also been looking into one of these, since he likes opening and shutting doors and whatnot:

    Also, said Leapfrog dog:

  • Thanks for all the suggestions guys .

She is actually using her ball pit a lot today! So that's exciting! I really don't care what she plays with as long as it's safe, but she has been doing a lot of climbing unsafe things. This is why I wanted to find some other things to bring into her rotation. The toy I was thinking is a rocking giraffe actually it's super cute!

Maybe I'll get this as a 1st BDay present. Anyone else have this do your LOs like it?
