Sleeping arrangements and chair question.

Okay ladies,.....my co worker just told me several people told her a newborn shouldn't sleep in a crib right away! Is this true? Our room is so small I don't think it would fit a bassinet plus the nursery is literally 5 steps away - I always had the intention of putting them in a crib. Also, I have asked a while back about breastfeeding chairs and I really want something in the nursery...do you think a double glider or a regular recliner is better?

My last pregnancy DD went to her crib at 2 weeks. We both slept much better when that happened. I am playing this time by ear. Depends on when they are born and NICU time or such, but I am not opposed to crib very early. (That's just me though)

Ours went straight to cribs (granted, after 3 months in the NICU, they were totally accustomed to that). We had Angelcare monitors which helped ease our minds -- we always felt most comfortable with them in the cribs. DD2 had some trouble due to severe reflux, and spent a couple of weeks in a bouncy seat, but one of us was always awake with her in shifts during that phase....

Mine will go in RNPs or the cribs. Like you I have no room in my room for them to sleep there and the nursery is 5 steps away. I got the snuza alarms for them. This is my plan at least!!! No advice on gliders..

I've NEVER heard that a baby shouldn't go straight to the crib. I know I've read that there's a lower risk of SIDS if the baby sleeps in the same room because they can more easily regulate their breathing (to yours), but I've never heard anything suggesting that it's no safe to start them in their crib.

I will say, we are a co-sleeping bed sharing family.

That's ridiculous. Mine were in their cribs (together) from the day the came home from the hospital. Then they were in separate cribs from about 3 months on.

DS and the girls were in their cribs from day 1. Granted the girls had been in cribs in the NICU, but with all 3 kids I never had any intention of rooming in or co-sleeping.

Ours were in the crib from the first day home. At 10 weeks we separated them into their own cribs. Totally untrue what your friend said.

Separate cribs starting at 2 weeks in their own room. Before that, they were in a twin pack n play in the living room while one of us was "on shift" and the other slept peacefully in our master bedroom.

From weeks 6 - 12 J slept in a rock n play in her room, because of reflux. But I just set it up right next to her bed.
