Hi All,
Haven't seen a post here yet, so thought I would say hello.
26 weeker twin mom here . . . Looking forward to support and advice from fellow MP moms.

Re: Hello

  • Hi! So far all familiar faces over here :). Hopefully we can be of support to each other and be a resource for others. I'm not sure how much traffic we'll get, but honestly, I haven't been on the main board much recently because I can't really relate to the later preemies we mostly get there. Not that any level of prematurity is easy, but those of us that are still dealing with the effects of prematurity have a different path.

I haven't updated my blog in a LONG time, but Anna is 20 months today and is a full on toddler! Her favorite thing is throwing food and she is learning new words every week. She has hemiplegic CP and hydrocephalus (shunted) and has therapy anywhere from 3-9 times a week.

  • Hi Ladies. My DS2 was born at 24 weeks. He is now 19 months. I agree with PP, in the NICU I never thought about what it would be like taking a 24 weeker home and what it entailed. I too was naive. Post NICU DS2 has had 3 surgeries, several MRIs, sleep studies, swallow studies, and therapies 4 times a week. We are blessed he is home but it has not been any where near easy. It is nice to have this board to talk to other MP moms.
  • Day 87, currently in the NICU with my b/g twins

I am so grateful for this board!
Its very difficult to go on the premie board and see people freak out about their 33+ week babies. I feel guilty for even saying that because any child in the NICU is a hardship to say the least. But part of me thinks . . . You have no idea how lucky you are to have carried that far, in comparison to my situation. Maybe I'm jealous , maybe I'm so sick and tired of leaving the hospital, waiting for my car and seeing new moms who have just given birth, bring home their babies immediately.
I can feel myself getting mad,and bitter lately. I guess something to bring up with my psychiatrist on Wednesday.

Uuugghh, I just want my babies home already!!!!!!!
  • Hugs @CynRO12

  • ~waves~  Same boat here.  Although, I feel so blessed at how insanely well both Olivia and Alexandria are doing that I'm never sure where I fit in ><   I see the later term preemies and think how lucky they are.. then feel guilty because early at all is so hard.. and then I look at my two who've kicked all their specialist except the cardiologist for O..and I just kinda go find my own little corner and watch the world and cheer for all of your kids <3

Can't believe the twins are already almost 8 months old!   I was supposed to be on the April board but went high risk and on bed rest so quickly that I never quite made it over.  I am really excited that we have this board now :)

  • My 26 week b/g twins are 18 months (tomorrow) and doing great.  They are both walking and starting to say a few words.  Sometimes I forget where they started, but they never cease to amaze me.

I also agree about some of the late-term preemies, I get a little irritated about the complaining of being in the NICU for a week or two.
