Who has baby in their own room already?

Just curious.  With our first two we had them in their own room from day 1.

This time around he really hated being alone, so we got an arm's reach co-sleeper.  He slept better, but not great.  At 6 weeks old we decided to try out his crib in his own room again.  He's been sleeping a lot better and so have we.  He gets up once or twice a night now, and goes to sleep easier.

I feel a little guilty, I wanted to keep him with us longer (probably since it's our last baby, too).  I read these books that talk about how it's good to have baby near you.  A lot of the breastfeeding books talk about how wonderful bed sharing is.  But...I just like to sleep by myself!  I really do  (well, just DH with me...and sometimes I prefer him not there!).

So...who has baby in their own room, and since what age?

  • As soon as we got home from the hospital she's been in her own room.

  • Baby is 12 days old. At night, he sleeps in the bassinet in our room but we put him down in his crib for naps. Been doing that since we brought him home.

Hoping to have him in his crib full time within the next few weeks!

  • Ours is in her own room, in her crib, and she does just fine. She's been there since coming home from the hospital at one day old. Our house is really small so theres no option for her to be in our room. Shes really close though, like five or six steps from our bed. Our first two slept in the pnp and then crib, in our room, next to our bed. But then we traded our huge condo in a baaaaad neighborhood for a tiny house in a great suburb, so poor DD is on her own. It ctually works out really well, we get way more sleep with this one than we did with 1 & 2.

  • Moved him to his own room at 2.5 weeks. He's a noisy sleeper. Plus my husband and I share the night feedings - so we don't walk each other up as much if we are in separate rooms.

  • We've had him in his own room about 80% of the time, since he was 2 weeks old. We also have a movement/sound monitor which is the ONLY thing that enabled us to put him in his room. When he was in the bassinet next to our bed, I was waking up every ten minutes and sometimes less, to lean over and check on him. Now I hear the comforting beeping of the monitor and I can rest easy! He's 4 weeks old tomorrow. :)

  • Man! I'm jealous of you ladies! DD is 2 1/2 weeks old and I cannot even fathom having her sleep in her giant crib by herself. She's been in a bassinet next to my bed since coming home. Maybe it's a FTM thing? Her room is very close to ours so I'm sure she'd be fine but I'm not so sure I would be! I think I sleep better with her close.

  • Ours is. He's a little over 2 weeks. We started him there last week. Last night though he was not having it. He ended up in the bed with me and H on the couch. He was so clingy. I hope that's a stage or something.

  • So there's a lot of us doing it!  We bought a brand new arm's reach co-sleeper just for this baby, and I also really wanted to get more use out of it.   Also, I guess it's easier to have them in the crib in their own room now so there's no tough transition later.

I was worried about this too but DD doesn't hear a thing! And our floors are super creaky so it's not quiet when I make my way over to DS. They both have fans on in their room too.

  • Been in his own room since 2 weeks in the RNP. Had planned on keeping him with us but he was too noisy and so were we.

  • LO is a LOUD sleeper and every grunt and squeak was waking me up. Moved her to her room and 4 days old, and now her door is shut. I hear her cries but not her grunt s!

  • Bbg sleeps in our room in the nb napper in the pnp. I try to put her in her crib for daytime naps, but it's still a bit spacious for her. I've tried today putting her in the boppy in the crib. It works fairly well that way. She doesn't wake a lot at night, but is fairly quiet when she does start to cry until she hits melt down. I'm not willing to hit melt down point just so she sleeps in her own room yet.

Just a safety FYI... they shouldn't sleep with anything in the crib, and the Bobby has a Not for Sleep tag on it.

  • In her crib, she is a noisy sleeper! She sleeps so good in her crib compared to her cradle in our room.

  • Same as @MrsDuarte8185‌, our room is in a different floor from the nursery. So we'll probably keep him in the PNP in our room till he STTN or at least gets down to one MOTN feeding (we're at 2 right now at nearly 1 month). But he sleeps in his crib during the day (and he starts out his nighttime sleep there before we move him downstairs) just fine!

  • Ours is in his room in a rnp. He was too loud to keep in our room due to his grunting all night. I have a movement monitor attached to him and a video monitor so I can see him. We moved him at 2 weeks and he is also our last but I wasn't getting any sleep and he was which sucked! I don't feel guilty, he won't remember.

    Ditto minus the movement monitor.
