Carseat help needed: Another convertible, or 3-in-1 booster?

DS2 is almost 6 months old and I think I can easily get another 5-6 months out of his Chicco KeyFit carseat. However, at some point he will be ready for a convertible.

DS1 will be 3 years in December. He is still rear facing in the Britax Marathon. He weighs about 30lbs. I think he can rear face in the Marathon until 40 lbs.

So, I'm wondering, do I buy another Marathon for DS2? Or do I buy something like the Graco Nautilus or Britax Frontier for DS1 and put DS2 in the Marathon?

DS1 seems just fine rear facing for now, so I hate to turn him forward facing just so his brother gets the convertible. But then I would need to buy the Nautilus or Frontier anyway soonish? Or could they both be in convertibles for many years still?

Help me think it through, thanks in advance!!

  • If I were you I'd look at the graco 4ever, it is around the same price as the britax and can be used rear facing, forward facing, and as a booster (both with and with out a back). You could use it for both boys depending on the needs you have at the time, and could keep both rear facing for a while.

  • @Kimbus22‌ Thanks so much for the comparison of the two seats, very helpful! I think I'll take DS to Babies r Us to try them but I'm leaning towards the Frontier based on your experience and online reviews.
