Anybody hired a nanny?

I hired a part time nanny (12 hours a week) to help me out around the house with my 2 little ones. I got the background check and interviewed and all that stuff. Now what I am wondering is what I need to get from her - i.e. drivers license, etc. I have looked around, but haven't found exactly the answer to my question. Have any of you gone through this process? If so, what did you get for/from the nanny? TYIA

If you're asking what you need to get from her to verify her eligibility to work in the US, then social security card or green card. But the above link seriously walks you through all the steps regarding payroll, taxes, etc.

Yeah. I have a home office and hired a part-time assistant who will literally assist in everything I need - from running errands, to cleaning (and scheduling my professional cleanings), baby assistance, and work stuff.

She had to complete a non-disclosure and tax forms. She'll have to get a vaccine by my 37th week. I didn't do a background check, as she's young and I don't anticipate a criminal record (judgment call), but I did let my insurance company know that I have a contractor in the house and had her sign a liability release form.

Like SG, she received a document that outlined policies and expectations, but it's the same umbrella policies for all employees and contractors with my firm; few are baby-related.

We hired two different nannies between the time DS was 3 months old and 18 months old. We now have my Mom watching DS, but went through care.com for at least one of the nannies. You can do a full background check, including driving record, but it's maybe $85? Then once you hire them, (at least this is what we did), we took a copy of her driver's license, her CPR/First Aid certification and some people have a nanny sign a contract. We did not as she was only two days a week and we were uncertain about long term.
