I'm 29 weeks and I just started feeling Baby Boy's hiccups last Friday. Since then, I'm feeling them at least three times a day, sometimes lasting for 20 minutes. Of course, a Google search has turned up some horror stories on how this could be linked with cord issues. But, I've read just as many message boards with women saying it's totally normal. I called my nurse advice line today and she shrugged it off, saying it was normal too. She said I could count them as kicks, but I'm pretty sure that's wrong, according to most of what I've read about kick counts. Aside from hiccups, his movement and kick counts seem normal. Anyone have insight/experience with this? Are you feeling baby's hiccups, and if so, how often? Thought I'd weigh in before I became "that patient" and demanded an ultrasound or test unnecessarily. It's just freaking me out that he went from none at all to having them so frequently. Thanks!
Re: Hiccups?
Today when I was in a meeting, I had some consistent jerking/kicking moments and I was wondering if that was hiccups, but really I haven't had any moment that I was able to definitely know was the hiccups. And she's quite active!
N14 Nov. Siggy: CELEBRATION!
aragosta - I did stumble upon that study and noticed that a lot of websites pointed to it, and only it, as the link between the two. The small part of my brain not riddled with hormones and jitters tends to agree with your logic.
It's good to hear that I'm not the only one feeling hiccups multiple times per day. I just plan to continue to monitor and do my kick counts and let that be a guide for calling my doc again.
