Ummm... No!

So, I went in for my 36 week appointment and my OB says, "You can go ahead and start trying tricks to naturally induce labor and if they don't work, we'll induce you at 39 weeks." Ummm... no and no! I've decided to avoid appointments with him until the end. I'll utilize the other OBs in the practice and cross my fingers he isn't on call when I do go into labor.

Re: Ummm... No!

  • Wow, that's just awful. I'd be avoiding him too.

  • WTF?  Do you have any medical history that would make the OB assume that an induction would be necessary?
  • wow...so much wrong with that. Scary!
  • WTF... That's all I have to say about that!

  • Dude the practice is off their rocker if they just induce at 39 weeks on request. Do they also just hand out elective c sections? Sorry not meaning to come down on your practice.. Hopefully it's just that clown. I would avoid him as well!

It's scary how many c sections are elective! I delivered my son at a much larger hospital because we were high risk. There were 19 babies born the same day and I was the only vaginal birth. They were all c sections!
  • Did you try just telling him that you prefer not being induced?

That could have solved the issue

I just nodded my head to everything he was saying... I know he can't force me to do anything. I just listened to his rant. I get to choose who I see every week so I'll just avoid him.

What was he ranting about? Does he have a golf tournament he's going to miss if you go into labor naturally at 40+ weeks?

That's what he made it sound like... like he was in a hurry! I actually told him, "Whoah, let's slow things down here. We don't even have names picked out yet."
  • Wow, awful! Sad that a lot of his patients may end up doing this either because they aren't as informed about the risks or feel pressured into it.
