What would you wear to an art auction?

Our local art gallery is having an art auction this weekend. DH's business is the title sponsor so dh and I will be attending. I have no clue what to wear though! I'm sure I'm overthinking it but regardless I'll have to go out and buy something new. I only have casual clothes and some cocktail dresses that fit right now (yay for weight loss!), so I have no "in between" casual & fancy clothes! So, what would you wear? There's no dinner, it's just the auction, if that makes a difference.

I was going to say a cocktail dress (especially if it's in the evening, and if it is, probably a black one).

I would do dressy business attire or cocktail dress and heels but I've never been to an art auction

I'm thinking a dress too, but maybe more businessy (not a word, I know!) than cocktail. Something like this maybe?

It's our city's only gallery. Features a lot of local artists, they also run community and kids programming. Non-profit.

Okay, I think I'm going to go with that dress, mostly because it's on sale for <$35!! So, what shoes? Knee high boots? Heels?

In general, I think LBD is always appropriate...with a colorful scarf or chunky necklace.
