Feeling rather sorry for myself today and thinking it can't be too early for a drink, can it?

So today is my birthday, and I'm feeling all of my 41 years - yikes!

Now most years I don't normally fret too much about my birthday, but circumstances this year are just conspiring to make it drink-worthy.

My hubby is away at school, he left Aug. 10 (the day before our second anniversary) and won't be back for another couple weeks - after his birthday, in fact. So we're missing out on all of our 'big days' all in one shot. I've been cooking for one for over three weeks now - meaning, eating all the crap. A bag of chips, a chocolate bar, and a
glass bottle of wine are so much easier!

So I've gained like five pounds since he left.

To top everything off, I'm a public teacher in BC, which means I haven't been paid since June - we've been locked out/on strike since the end of May. So instead of working with my students, which I love, I'll be sitting on a picket line. Wooooo. If I hear one more person utter the words 'greedy teacher' I'll not be responsible for what happens to them.

Our little theatre offers free admission on your birthday, which is awesome, and usually the movie available on my birthday is drek, but this week is actually a movie I want to see - problem is, I'm a bit of a hermit with only a couple of close friends in my town, and both of them are busy tonight.. So do I venture out by myself to the movies and be that pathetic single in the theatre on her birthday, or stay at home and...well, drink all the wine?

Ok, so I've put two bottles in the fridge to chill...was there ever really a decision to be made here?

And it's Tuesday, there will just have to be some interesting posts over on TTGP to entertain me!

Thanks for letting me AW, it's been a while since I had something to post a gif story about. How about some cake and wine for all!

Or cake shaped like wine
