Pregnant after a Loss

Trying again after Chemical Pregnancy- How long to wait?

Hi There,

I am currently going through a chemical pregnancy. My dr suggested to wait a month till we try again but i have read lots of people have had success the next month. anyone know what the risks of trying again so soon are ? i hear that it may be easier to get pregnant right after and im worried to miss that window of time.

thoughts?

Re: Trying again after Chemical Pregnancy- How long to wait?

  • I would definitely follow your OB's advice. If you have questions about the risks, I would bring them up with her so he can explain her reasoning for the recommendation.

    I'm sorry for your loss.

  • My doctor still recommended 3 cycles with my chemical. I was pregnant month 3. As much as I wanted to try right away, id follow the doctor's advice. Hoping a month will fly by so you can try again and I'm sorry for your loss.
  • Sorry for your loss, waiting a month is a good idea as it allows all your hormones a chance to reset. I have heard some docs recommend things like 6 months for mc's and I would never wait that long. One cycle is usually good for early MCs. It also gives you an emotional break from TTC. I literally spent a year obsessed with TTC

  • Your doctor knows what's best.

We had a cp in November followed immediately by a second cp in December. Terrible. Wait a month and give your body and yourself sometime to heal.

  • Your doctor knows you and your history better than any internet stranger.  Please follow the advice you were given.  If you don't understand why you have to wait one whole cycle, then you can ask your doctor for his/her reasoning.

  • I've never had a CP, but with my miscarriage at 6w3d, I was instructed to wait 3 cycles, and as much as I wanted to start trying sooner, I followed my doc's medical advice, because I know there are reasons for waiting.  Looking back, I'm really glad I waited those three cycles because, while I thought I was ready, I still had some emotional stuff to get through before we started trying again.

  • I am going through the exact same thing. I got a bfp at 4 weeks and started spotting at 5 weeks. Levels on Monday were at a 7. Testing early next week to make sure they are zero but we are going to try again right away. I have a daughter that I didn't have any trouble conceiving so this was a total shock and very upsetting. The dr said it's recommended to wait a month but the PA told me we could try again right away. I think they have to tell you the recommendation. I agree that the success rates of pregnancy rigid after a cp are overwhelming that it makes it hard to wait.

This is bad advice. You are not her doctor nor do you know her medical history.

What PC said, and also to the other bold, yeah? A year obsessed? Some people have been trying for ten years, and have been obsessed for as long. Smh. What? Sorry if that seems rude--this just struck me as insensitive.
