Pregnacy brain?

Hi ladies any one else started with pregnacy brain? My DH has been lol at me so much the last few day I have put the cheese in the cupboard under the sink, put milk in the dish washer, bread in the freezer, and almost put coffe on my ds breakfast instead of sugar.
I am not a forget full person but it is getting bad anyone else with me?

Re: Pregnacy brain?

  • Yes. I've been insanely forgetful even more than normal lol

  • I forgot to do an important task on Friday at work. I remembered on Sunday but took Monday off. Had to text a co worker to do it. I forget stuff real bad now.
  • My pregnancy brain is turning me into a ditz, luckily DH finds it endearing

  • I got halfway to work this morning before I realized my son was still in the backseat. He's 2.5 yrs and this is the first time I've ever done that!

Oh man, I hear you. I read somewhere (it could have even been something posted on here?) that pregnancy makes your brain shrink by 8%. What I don't know is if it goes back at all between pregnancies or if it just continues to shrink...

  • My brain has been in slow mo since I got pregnant with my daughter. Pregnancy and then sleep deprivation and back to pregnancy make me sound like a blubbering idiot most of the time.

  • Gosh yes! I heard someone using an air compressor or something yesterday and told them bless you. (It sounded like a sneeze?) Husband couldn't stop laughing. Totally stole my husbands phone accidentally by sticking it in my purse for no apparent reason. I feel like a fat, clumsy idiot these days but at least I make people laugh, right?
  • I have a lot going on right now but I'm typically the person who remembers everything, knows how to get everywhere, always takes dinner out of the freezer and makes sure everyone is where they are supposed to be and on time. I have NO idea what I'm doing forget to take out dinner more than I remember and had to print out a calendar for myself to write EVERYTHING on and use my navigation to get everywhere (just moved here a month ago).
  • Well I just had a pregnancy brain purchase. I thought I was adding the Doppler to my Amazon wish list and instead bought it and didn't realize until the email came through from Amazon that my package shipped...

I think it continues to shrink. I have felt like I have had pregnancy brain since before DD was born 4 years ago and it has never gone away. It seems to only be worse now with this baby. Help us all!

  • When I was pregnant with my daughter I went shopping one day for a few hours. When it was time to leave I got into the passenger side of my car. I was alone.

This pregnancy I've put cereal in the fridge and left the burners turned on after I was done using the stove. My husband now does a walk through after I'm done in the kitchen.
  • I put leftovers in the cupboard instead of the fridge and peanut butter in the fridge instead of the cupboard. I got up to get water three times in a row at work only to forget my mug every. Single. Time. I had to come up with excuses to explain to my coworkers why I was pacing the halls.
  • Yes, from the get go.  I've locked my keys in the car like 3 times since getting pregnant.  Once with my kids in the car and I had to call 911 to get the police to "break in".  We only have the one car so its really stupid when I do this too.

Wow. I would always wonder why moms of two or more would always mix up their kids names. Now I know why mommy brain. Ugh.

Actually during pregnancy your brain is developing more neuron connections, meaning we are getting smarter lol. However, because our brain is focusing on developing these new connections we have less brain cells to use to focus on our less important things we do everyday. Then after the baby is born you still have baby brain because now a percentage of your brain is used to always focus and think about LO at all times. They proved moms are smarter because with all if our new connections we are better able to multitask compared to a woman with no children. Which is a greatly needed skill for a mom!

I like the sound of that ;)

  • Sooooooo that's what , I thought I needed to go take a few classes
  • I recently referred to the three year old I used to date... errr, babysit. That was an embarrassing one.
  • I'm not too bad atm with baby brain, I am def mixing up my words and have even answered the work phone saying some weird things haha, I can hardly multitask now, like most of the time that I answer the phone i'm typing up something and end up either typing what they are saying or answer with what i am typing haha sometimes i answer saying their phone number lol Hate to see if it gets any worse
  • Not yet this time around yet, but last pregnancy I had it really bad! I lost my keys for 2 days (they were in the freezer) and I kept mixing up or combining words a lot ("tall friend" would come out "fall trend"). I was actually nervous to talk to people because it got so bad. My memory is still awful to this day and I have to write reminders to myself everywhere!

  • I put the kettle on the stove and didn't turn on the burner. That was just yesterday.
  • I have been trying to respond to this post for a while and keep forgetting. I don't even remember all of the things that I have done, but yes, I keep looking at my husband and saying "Pregnancy Brain... sorry"
