Pregnant after a Loss

Small vent

So I asked about the gender party a while back and decided to go with it and keep it small (just family and close friends) cause it's something my bff and step-mom really wanted to do for me. So after going public I created a FB group to stay organized in guest lists and addresses and whatnot. Well my step-mom posted for ideas and we're getting together Wed to start planning and so many people want to help plan but it's like what are we planning for if half the people already know and how do I tell them it's too many cooks in the kitchen without going b*tch mode? Ugh, I know they're excited and so am I but now I'm questioning how well this is going to go. I might have to put my foot down Wednesday and make sure they know it's WAY too many people. Okay, vent over! Thanks for *listening* Have some pie :)

  • Just my two cents... If it's too many cooks in the kitchen thank ppl for the overwhelming support and then lay out the who, what, where, when, etc. :). I think people like to show their support by offering to play a role but this is your gig, so let them know how they can be most helpful even if that's just to show up and help you celebrate!

  • Agree! Say you'll be doing most of it as a surprise for them and are okay on your own and "want to do this for them". Then graciously say something like "I need you to save up all your energy for your grand kid because we'll be exploiting y'all to no end" hahaha

  • I agree with pp, just be upfront and tell them it's too many people! I am doing a small reveal with friends and family only like 10-15 ppl but Im just inviting them over for dinner and dessert not even telling them it's the reveal so no one gets involved LOL

  • Ugh!  Too many cooks is so frustrating.  I agree that you need to tell them to back off (but nicer than "Back the eff off biznatches!" which is what I would want to say LOL)

  • Thanks y'all. I just texted my step-mom and told her it was getting out of hand and way too big. I'm going to let her be the mean one since she's better at it than I am, I'm a people pleaser and she's not.
