The poll is anonymous so feel free to answer honestly. This is about your current relationship, and the word "spouse" is used generally to mean your partner. Sorry no funny option. Didn't feel right to include one.

  • No physical abuse and he knows that there is NO 2nd chance if he ever did. Physical abuse and cheating are absolute deal breakers in my book and we are both clear on that. He does have a temper and we can definitely get a little loud in a heated fight but it never lasts long and rarely happens now. this was a little early on in our relationship.

  • No physical abuse on either part since he grew up in an abusive house with his step dad. Sometimes there maybe little verbal abuse but it's from both of us.

  • A few weeks into my relationship with DH we were crazy about each other and we had a conversation about our "ugly sides." He confessed to me that he had punched his fist in a wall and kicked down a door when he was with his ex. He said she brought out the worst in him because she hit below the belt when they argued and got a kick out of pushing his buttons. It bothered me that he blamed her for his unacceptable behavior. Even though he didn't hit her his violent behavior was a big red flag. I wondered if he would do anything like that around me. Thankfully in the 14 years we've been together I've never seen him that angry at me or anyone. I'm glad that type of behavior is way in his past.

  • I've seen SO get really mad at something. Like PP's H, he throws/breaks etc things when he's really upset but I don't think he'd ever actually hurt a person.

  • No abuse here - actually, my H is probably the calmest, slowest to frustrate person I have ever met in my life.  He even stays crazy calm during any argument we have ever had.

I was in a terrible abusive relationship in college.  It was a very dark time in my life and I will never put myself in a situation like that again.  But my H is the polar opposite of my ex, so I am not really worried.
