Negative reactions to your baby?

Guys, I'm seeing red. Absolutely fuming. My boy is incredibly colicky and fussy and was up screaming since 6:30 this morning- full tilt banshee screaming. I had things to get done so I braced myself, packed him up into the car and went. He yowled through all of our shopping, and my last stop was CVS for his reflux prescription. The tech in the drive-thru told me at least 20 minutes to wait so I went into the store to change him while I waited. New diaper on, I went to the pharmacy area to try and settle him, and believe me, I tried everything. Shushing, rocking, singing softly, talking, binky, you name it.

There was a young kid (13? 14?) sitting there playing on his phone. He rolls his eyes and says "Can't you shut that thing the F**K up? I mean, come on, bitch. Someone needs to snap his f**king neck!" I was livid and responded that I'd much rather snap his- all while moving my car keys into my hand so I can defend myself if I need to. WHO SAYS SOMETHING LIKE THAT?!?! The pharmacist jumped to my rescue and told him to get out of the store and asked if I was alright, but honestly!?!?! I understand being frustrated as a shopper if there is a constantly screaming baby, but I'd be a lot more annoyed if the mom wasn't trying to do anything, and I'd NEVER say something so offensive- and threatening!

Has anybody else had any experiences with ridiculous reactions or negative responses to being out with their babies? I really need to know that I'm not crazy for being so f'ing pissed off right now.

I've been is situations where I am anxious because my kid is screaming but it's my own insecurities not anything that was said. Honestly most people are pretty understanding. After all they're BABIES. They cry. You have every right to be super pissed off. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

We often have to kick that age of kid from my work for being jackasses. I wish I could say this surprises me, but it doesn't. Good on the staff for kicking him out!

Once, on a plane with DD1 when she was almost 2, the man sat in front of us rolled his eyes and muttered swearily about kids on planes, said they should be crated in the hold so on and so forth about how I better keep her quiet. She coloured a picture, had a snack and went to sleep, he yelled at a flight attendant and rammed his chair back into my knees several times.

And once on a train near Christmas, similar to you with the crying. She was cold, tired and bored from a day of travelling and some guy completely ripped into me. I cried and he was so ashamed of himself that he apologised profusely. It was an empty train so he could have just moved.

Sometimes "It's not me, it's you" (in your case it's not you, it's that bratty kid) is the truth. Why was he even in a pharmacy anyway? Weirdo.

Fuck that punk ass kid. He sounds like a brat who was obviously crying himself over a newborn. Oh wahhhh!!

I havnt yet experienced anything crazy, but I have a friend who sorta did. This was a while ago, her baby was very fussy at a store and some random lady said "oh, I see someone forgot the mute button", meaning the pacifier.

Really lady? Sounds like you may need that for yourself. People have no manners.

HOLY CRAP! i'd have actually slapped that POS. I can't stand kids that are so fcking disrespectful - I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with him on the regular.

Wow. I fucking hate bratty teenagers. And that sounds like it was bratty x 10. I'm not the kind of person who would take that. I'd have slapped him and I'm not even joking. Idc who was looking or who was around. I would have slapped him right in the mouth and very possibly cussed him out. Fuck that. (Anger issues *shrug*)

I'm so sorry that happened to you and your LO. By no means are you crazy for fuming over this. *hugs*

ETA: just reread what I wrote. Gawd I'm an awful human. See, this is why I need to control my temper. Ya can't just go around slapping ppl's kids even if they are giant assfarts.

First WTF!? That kid needs a f-cking adjustment....i know teenage/high school age kids are stupid and rude but if either of my kids said anything like that they would be grounded until they could show respect toward others.

I've had issues with older people. I took DS (7) for ice cream as a reward for being on good behavior during school all week. We were waiting in line and LO was fussy (she makes a few soft eh noises then she'll do a louder wail but doesn't scream unless she's really pissed) so she did her louder wail and the older guy in front of us turned around and glared at me. I'm look ass hole my one month old let out a little wail ONCE I don't need you glaring at us because you have no patience.

wow that is unacceptable! where the heck is that kid's mom?!?! i'm sorry you had to hear such a horrible thing. just wow!

i have gotten weird, rude comments...I am Puerto Rican, so i have a slightly darker complexion than my husband who is from TX. When baby was born, he looked just like me, and everyone pointed it out. After a week, baby still looked just like me and started to look darker, his eyes were dark, and even i had a hard time finding any of my husband's features in my son. One day while walking around the neighborhood a neighbor walking their dog comes over to see the baby. She knows my husband and I and had been asking to see baby. She took a look at him, told me he was precious then said "is he your husband's? looks nothing like him!" took me a second to take it in and find something to say. I told her that of course he was my husband's, what kind of a question is that?!?!?! then walked away. Now that baby is 6wks old, he is starting to look more like his daddy, and his hair is a dirty blond like my husbands. I just couldn't believe she would have the nerve to ask something like that.

It's one thing for people to make stupid comments to you when you are pregnant "you're huge, are you having twins,etc". It is a whole other ball game when people comment on your kids. I would have lost my shit on that little Brat.

Thanks, ladies! I feel a heck of a lot better after reading this! I'm sorry to those who've dealt with similar, and I honestly think the only reason I didn't punch him is that I was SO taken aback. ADC, I did think about calling the cops but realized that he'd be LONG gong before anybody got there. It was actually my SO's reaction too when I told him about it. All I can say is that I can't wait to get to move out of this area. I'm over it!

Just reading this made my blood boil. I can't stand ignorant people, especially entitled teenagers. Man, if someone had said something like that to me when my hormones were raging right after I had my son, I would have snapped his skinny little neck. Fucker.
