AW update on my Mom

Sorry I've been an AW lately, and not offering much support. With my Moms diagnosis, I've been totally overwhelmed and upset.

So, my Mom saw the oncologist today. The plan is to do a biopsy to stage the cancer. I'm guessing stage 3 since the lymph nodes are involved...could be stage 4 since the tumor is rather large and she is in pain. However, they will be doing a chemo regimen, and the worst case scenario would be 12-18 months. Which is MUCH longer than we thought! We thought she was going to be told a couple months. So, its more likely now that she will see our rainbow! We are both very happy with this. She also got some good pain meds, and some enzymes so that she can eat more. I am still very sad that my Mom will pass before she should, but knowing we most likely have a solid year makes us all feel better.

    Sorry you're going through this. I lost my mom to breast cancer last year - while pregnant with my Finn. Losing her that way and so soon was heartbreaking.

    My only advice is be with her every chance you get, tell stories, go through photos..., as hard as it is, try not to let the sadness cloud the days you have left. You'll cherish this time.

    I'm so sorry that you're going through this but I hope the chemo can buy her even more time. DHs mom passed away last year from lung cancer and I agree with @dragonfly1809, cherish this time that you have and try to enjoy all of the time you have left together. Big (((hugs)))

    So sorry you have to go through this( lost my dad at 11 with colon cancer:() I'm so happy in the fact she will see your lo....and you have a yr to make wonderful memories. Not to be upsetting but you might buy your mom a journal or my life book that she can write little notes , her stories growing up etc for your lo(s) to have when they get older! Wishing you the best and lots of hugs and prayers!

    Going through this with a loved one is so scary. I'm glad you will have more time than you had originally thought. A friend of mine lost her mother to breast cancer two years ago, and they went on a few memorable trips before she passed. I hope you are able to spend as much time with her as possible. ((((Hugs))))

    You are so strong for staying so positive about the situation.  FWIW ... I'm glad you can see the silver lining here ... it comforted me a lot when I lost my mom to think that we got to say all the things we wanted to say, and got to spend a lot of time together.  Hopefully that brings you some comfort as well.

    *I am no longer regularly posting on TB because of the fucked up debacle of Jan 2015 when administrators banned long-term members and mods with no notice and completely dismantled a community full of women who cared about each other.  If you see me posting it's only to give support to a poster who needs it or to post something important enough that I need to say.  I am no longer responding to  anything other than issues that affect people who I care about*
    37 years old, MH is 42
    TTC since 2010; Dx Unexplained Infertility; possible male factor 
    August 2012 through June 2013:  6 IUIs with clomid and trigger shot, all BFNs
    7/2013, Pregnant! Unmedicated--we were on a treatment break
    8/20/13 no heart beat; 8/23/13 d&c
    3/15/14 IVF #1:  Lupron/Follistim/Menopur; ER 3/10 resulting in four transfer grade blastocysts, transferred one pretty blast and froze the remaining three. BFN. 
    Natural FET in May cancelled because the universe hates me my hormones were not cooperating.
    6/24/14 FET #1: transferred two pretty embryos; BFN   
    8/28/14 FET #2: BFP, ended in Chemical pregnancy

    Done with medical intervention and getting used to the idea of CFNBC.

    (((Hugs))) try to stay positive and continue to look & strive for silver linings. Cancer sucks. My MIL has a rare cancer and has been doing nonstop chemo for a few years now, she's on to trial drugs now. It's scary stuff, but a positive attitude goes a long long way.
