Frozen milk question

Most of my freezer stash is from July and I haven't used any yet. I keep it in a freezer attached to the fridge. My understanding is that it's ideal to use within 3 months which means that time is rapidly approaching.
My question is... If I move the milk from my current freezer to a deep freeze, can I extend the time to 6-12 months vs the 3-6 in the current freezer? Or do I have to freeze in the deep freeze the moment the milk is frozen?
Thanks!

Re: Frozen milk question

  • Agreed with the others, I'd start rotating your freezer stash now.  If you do have a deep freeze available, I'd freeze any new frozen milk directly to there.

  • Thanks ladies. I was hoping not to pump for a bit more being that I'm not returning to work anytime soon but it looks like I'll start giving a bottle a day while I pump and freeze the fresh so I don't waste my hard work!
