Measuring Belly

so I went to my 28 week appt today and rotated through a new doctor (new to practice and to me). Anyhow, she measured my stomach today and I commented "wow, this is the first time anyone did this" and her response was "really? cuz there are several measurements written down from the previous weeks" Even she seemed surprised to hear no other doctor in this practice measured me, and she said " well, how did they come up with these numbers then?"

So apparantly, my doctors have been too lazy to measure and they just estimate every time I go in there and write down numbers.

Am I wrong to think this isn't acceptable?!? or is this normal to estimate

So just wondering if anyone else has been measured? if so, starting when?

on a related note, I am measuring two weeks ahead so it seems rather important to know

I have had sooo many issues with this practice, it just gives me another reason to be annoyed. Sadly, I can't switch right now due to HMO rules...ughh

I'm 27w3d with twins and have never been measured... I only see a MFM.

I am measured by my OB everytime, but not by MFM (they only do ultrasounds and monitor my GD). I'm measuring 5 weeks ahead, but normal with twins.

Forgot to say...I was measured everytime by my OB with my singleton pregnancy too.

I got measured for the 1st time at 20 weeks. I have my 24 week app this week so I'm not sure if they will measure me.

I was never measured by my previous OB. I went in on an emergency and saw a colleague and he measured me 5 weeks ahead (this was about 10 weeks ago, I'm 36w now). Anyway, I ended up leaving that practice and my new OB never measured me either.....

I was just measured at my last appointment for the first time, so 24 weeks. It was the same with my first. I think estimating is pretty normal - prior to 24 weeks, they'd just feel my belly and tell me I looked to be on track.

I'm measured so far at every visit except the last one. I had my AS, then 2 measurements in a row, then nothing the last time. I think it depends on other factors, like if your weight/bloodwork is all normal, maybe they don't feel the need to measure every time?

It is really odd of them to make numbers up, I would ask about that. It takes literally 2 seconds to be measured.

I'm carrying twins and only have been measured my last two appointments. One appointment I measured 4 wks ahead, the last one 2 wks ahead. I don't know that it really matters.

I get measured every time too. But what I find strange is that they don't have measurements for twins. I was measuring 9 weeks ahead last time but everyone says how small I look, so I don't put a lot of stock in the measurements.

I was measured at 21 weeks and then again at 26 weeks. Not this appointment at 28 weeks.

I was measured for the first time at 16 weeks and they have measured each time since. To me though, writing down a number as if you did measure but actually didn't is considered falsifying records, I'm a nurse and charting something that you didn't actually do is a, no no, even if the value doesn't effect the patient's treatment.

I get measured at every appointment now, but they didn't start measuring until I was 28 weeks/3rd tri.

I've been measured at my appointments. She never says anything except that I'm measuring on target. I think it is very weird that there are measurements written down on your charts but they never did them.....if they don't do the measurements, then why would they write anything down. I would be skeptical b/c of that.

I got measured the first time at my 16 week appointment but she didn't use a measuring tape she just used her hands and said... you are measuring 20 weeks ( I was 16 with twins).... so who knows!

I was measured for the first time today - she measured from my pelvic bone to I guess the top of my uterus. She said I was measuring big - but we also know that my dating is exact since we had a FET. Additionally, at my anatomy scan last week I was measuring spot on for my due date.

She did say to me that the measuring they do doesn't really mean much - esp if you are more petite you may just measure bigger / later than you really are since there isn't as much room for your uterus I guess.

I also think it's wrong for them to make up the numbers!

I got measured for the 1st time at 22 weeks. Prior to that was an 18w appt and I know they don't measure until after 20 weeks.

My OB made one attempt at measuring me and basically said it wouldn't be accurate because of loose skin from previous weight loss and current stomach chub. I see an MFM and am having lots of growth ultrasounds, so the measurements seem kind of irrelevent anyway.
