Babysitter at a wedding - what do you pay?

edited September 2014 in Stay at Home Moms
I asked about the logistics of this before, but not the pay!  So I need advice.

My sister's wedding is in a little over a month!  I'm the MOH, DS is the ring-bearer, H is not in the wedding.  Our babysitter is coming.  Here's the scene - ceremony + reception are at same location, 5 minutes from my parents house, 50 minutes from our house.  DH and DS will meet me there shortly before the ceremony (I'll be gone all day hair, dress, etc), babysitter will be at ceremony too.  Ceremony starts at 7:30 so dinner, 8 ish I guess, and not too sure how long after that DS will last.  Babysitter will be sitting with DS during dinner, and just there to keep a general eye on him during the rest, until he's done.  Then DH or I will drive them to my parents house so she can put him to bed or just hang out there, whatever.  DH and I are spending the night there so we'll be there late after the whole shebang.  I offered babysitter to spend the night too since it's a long drive home (she lives near us), but she said she'll let me know about that.

We normally pay her $8/hour to babysit in our house, but what do you do for special occasions???  Obviously her normal rate for the travel and wedding, but then do I also give her extra for gas?  And what about if she decides to spend the night?  I mean, once we're all back to my parent's she's not really 'on duty' anymore....?  And do I add more just because it's a special event?  I just have no clue!

Thanks all!
