March 2015 Moms

crafting?

Hi, just thought I would see if there are any other moms making things. Baby related or not. I just love making things. I haven't really started on making baby items yet, but I am almost done with DD halloween costume. Elsa and the costume I saw in store looked so cheap and itchy and cost $40. So I decided to make it I spent a total of $19.

Re: crafting?

  • No I wish. I decorate cakes if that counts, lol. I plan to take up crochet during this pregnancy though. Great job on the costume. Love it.

  • I crochet. I made about a billion hats for various people last year and some blankets as baby gifts. Now that it's (slightly) starting to cool down, I plan to get back into it again.

  • That dress is awesome!!
I would love some kind of crafting check in. You ladies probably have some great ideas and I'm always crafting something :) I just finished sewing a handful of those little elastic and fabric door silencers. They go over the door knob and allow the door to close sooo quietly. I'm also about 3/4 done cable knitting a blanket, but once the snow starts here I really kick up the volume.

  • @orangesprinkles13 That is fabulous! SD looooooves Elsa so we bought her the costume at JC Penney just so she can wear it around the house just because. I'm completely expecting to see a million Elsas at Halloween this year. We're thinking about going back and getting the Ariel costume they had too just to mix it up because she loves The Little Mermaid almost as much as Frozen.
  • I bought crafty things that other people made this weekend at the Yellow Daisy Festival...does that count??

I knit, but I haven't touched it in probably 6+ months. I like to sew, and contemplating on making DD's costume. Her nickname is sweet pie, and couldn't find any toddler pie costume (without it costing and arm and a leg), so I might just make it out of felt, like this: image

This is so cute!!!! If you do I'd love to see it.

I'm working on some simple baby booties to get myself used to knitting in the round again. I also sew. My mom is really cute and she said she's working on a crochet project for the baby. That's the thing about the baby being born in march, it limits the amount of knit goods I can make for the baby right away.

@orangesprinkles13 that costume looks great. I bet DD is excited for Halloween :)

I crochet I have yet to learn to knit. :( oh and DD is extremely excited she wanted to wear her dress to Walmart...

  • I started crocheting a baby hat but I'm very much a beginner.  I'm at the point where I'm supposed to create ribbing by doing 1 front post hdc and 1 back post hdc and I don't know how to do that so I need to look around on youtube so I can finish the hat.  I like crocheting though, I just need to teach myself some more.

I'm so glad youtube was invented. I always use crocheting videos to help me out.

DDs whole room in done Little Mermaid style. Now she's frozen obsessed. She used to have that mermaid costume it recently got to big. My local disney store never has any frozen items in stock. I told her we would see a lot of Elsa's on Halloween. She said maybe she will be a frozen zombie Elsa, I think dad had a lot if influence on this. Haha

  • Soaps! And your house smells amazing for days. Im super excited to try out some fall scents.
  • I would love to learn to crochet. I took a stab at my first wreath yesterday, I'm pretty happy with it. Adds lots of color to my door!

No clue why it's sideways, sorry.

  • I crochet, I'm working on a baby blanket in turquoise. I'm not sure if that counts as a neutral but its one of my favorite colors so I just went with it. I've also made a beanie that looks like a frog and a really cute pink beanie with a big white rose because I'm really hoping for a girl.

  • I crochet as well. ;)
  • I sew and have my own Etsy shop as well. Although, I am taking a break from orders until after baby is born.

I make diaper bags, cloth diapers (and will make all my CDs this time. I am looking forward to doing some quilts and other things for my family.

This are all cute! I love the color combinations.
  • Well, I'm a dog groomer and I make dog bows on my time off at home. I need to start getting my halloween bows made soon. If I have a girl I will probably make her a lot of bows and hair accessories lol.

So if I reeeeeaallly wanted a gray and white chevron diaper bag.. would you be able to make one? [-O<

That's the theme I've decided to go with because I can add a splash of color no matter what the sex is. By the way, those are adorable bags! (in case you couldn't tell by my begging)

    edited b/c smiley wasn't cooperating.
  • Does anyone cross-stitch? I love to, though I am more into modern design so don't do it enough because it doesn't go with my home decor. I've been wanting to make something for the baby's room, but am not into super cutesy stuff..... Am having a hard time finding a nice pattern.

I've cross stitched but not I a long time. It is had to find not so cutesy patterns. I defiantly haven't seen any in store, but have seen a few online. Maybe you can start with one if those little pillows that has the birthdate, weight ect. With some kind of non cutesy boarder.
  • I'm a paper crafter. I scrapbook mostly and make cards and paper decor occasionally. I also knit. Hopefully I could fit these activities in when the bb arrives!!!
