Vitamins

any ladies taking or have taken the GNC Ultra Mega Green Prenatal? I'm taking it along with a probiotic and i'm having these slight headaches, any one had a bad or good experience with these vitamins and can anyone suggest another vitamin?

Re: Vitamins

  • I have not tried it but I have used the Target brand prenatal, Century 21st, and now I'm taking the Enfamil Expecta prenatal w/DHA (I think is the name). Enfamil sent me a $10 off coupon so it ended up being cheaper than everything else.

Most prenatal vitamins (generic or brand) have the same components so it is really preference on what you choose. I do not know how those GNC compare to others. The only suggestion that I can give is to try taking it with food if you are not going so.

  • One thing to keep in mind about the Target prenatal vitamin ... it has laxatives in it.  I couldn't figure out why I kept getting sick no matter what I ate and then realized I didn't get sick the day I forgot to take my prenatal vitamin.  Did a bit of research and found that it contained a laxative - polyethylene glycol.
Married on October 20, 2012.  Began trying in January 2013.
RE appointment & testing December 2013 - February 2014= Unexplained IF, possible endometriosis
IUI#1- March 22 (100mg clomid, 75 mg of Bravelle, Ovidrel trigger) = BFP!!!

  • I started prenatal vitamins about 6 months before ttc and stopped around 12 weeks. I have a really healthy diet and didn't feel it is necessary. I just talked to my midwife yesterday and she suggested Alfalfa tablets, an Omega 3 complex, and adding in a B complex vitamin if I feel like I need it. Mostly just listening to your body and using common sense to see what is missing from your diet, and that is not the same thing every day. Nothing in a multivitamin can truly match the equivalent foods and based on all of the research I have done they are more helpful before ever getting pregnant than during the actual pregnancy.

If so, I can honestly say that it did not help me pass anything down there....
  • I had a hard time with all my prenatal vitamins. My doctor reccomended taking TWO Flintstone Completes in place of a prenatal. They offer all the same things and go down much easier. They have the gummy or chewable options. I take the gummy vitamins and have had zero issues!

  • Was taking dr recommended prenatal vitamins (can't remember name now, they were blue), but insurance changed and the pills went from $50 a month to $80 a month. So dr said I could switch to Woman's 1 A Day prenatal. Got the generic of that & they have been great so far & much more affordable (wish I had switched sooner). Only thing I would say would be take them after eating. Waited til before bed to take them once and ended up throwing them up.

  • Mine are gummy prenatals because apparently I am 5.
  • I use the Honest Co Brand (Jessica Alba's company) of pre-natal vitamins. I have to take them three times a day which is a bummer, but they really help me with nausea due to the Ginger and B6 in them. Totally worth it. I love them!
