Pregnant after a Loss

***Sunday Ticker Change Check-In***

Hey ladies! It's another week! Congrats! If your week turns over on Sunday, please join us.

How far along are you? Fruit if you know?

How are you feeling?

Any recent or upcoming appointments/milestones?

Thoughts/vents:

QOTW: How did you (or how do you plan to) announce your pregnancy to family and friends? How far along were you? If you know the sex of your baby for this pregnancy, how did you announce it? If you don't know just yet, do you have any ideas of how you are going to do it?

  • How far along are you? Fruit if you know?
31 weeks and he's the size of a pineapple. It feels that way too ;)

    How are you feeling?
I've been feeling good but ready for the heat to end. My feet were so swollen yesterday and I couldn't seem to have enough water yesterday. Luckily the swelling went down overnight.

    Any recent or upcoming appointments/milestones?
I had a bi weekly appointment last week and we also had our hospital tour which was really great. I highly recommend a tour to anyone. It helped relieve some anxiety since it's a new hospital for me.

    Thoughts/vents:
Hard to believe that we are in single digits for our week countdown now (at least to get to 40 weeks). I never in a million years thought it would get this chance to have a biological child after our history. Feeling very blessed.

We held off telling family and friends until 19.5 weeks. Crazy I know (involved lots of baggy outfits and home time) but after repeat losses we wanted to have our anatomy scan first. We told friends and family over the phone as well as the sex of our baby that same day. I was crying of happiness on the phone when people picked up and they assumed something was wrong-- boy where they wrong haha.

26 weeks. A head of lettuce, I think?

    How are you feeling?
Good. Uncomfortable, big and tired but nothing to complain about.

    Any recent or upcoming appointments/milestones?
baby girl recently had a heart echo (because I'm high risk). It went really well although they weren't able to see one little thing so I have to go back for a quick follow up.

    Thoughts/vents:
I really can't wait not to be pregnant any more. It's so stressful for me. Don't get me wrong. I am so grateful to be carrying this little girl. But, I hate being high risk and I just worry constantly. I look forward to getting this girl safely here. Then I can worry about all the other stuff there is to worry about. It never ends...

we told family and friends around 12 weeks for those that live close. I was already really showing. I told distant family around 22 weeks. I used a combo of telling people in person, sending cards and fb. :D:D

How are you feeling? I'm excited to be half-baked! Feeling much better - still feel yucky in the mornings if I don't eat enough protein with dinner, but overall I'm doing well.

Any recent or upcoming appointments/milestones? Had our a/s last Thursday and found out we're having another little boy! That makes #3 for us!

Thoughts/vents: I still have those "what if?" thoughts every now and then - like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.  I never felt like this with my first two pregnancies, so I don't know if it's just PgAL brain or my paranoia, but it's driving me insane... At times I'm super excited about this little baby and at others, I don't want to get too excited because, "what if something happens?"

If you don't know just yet, do you have any ideas of how you are going to do it? We printed photo cards with all our shoes on it - DH's, Mine, DS1, DS2, and a pair of baby shoes and put "January 2015" at the top, and "The {last name} Family is growing by two feet" at the bottom.  My in-laws and two or three very good friends knew before we officially announced, because they were aware of our loss, but we announced to everyone at 10-11 weeks, and went FB public after 13 weeks.

We just did our gender reveal this week.  I made DIY Party Poppers and we went around to our families' houses to let them "pop" them.  They were certainly a hit! I popped one at home and photographed it for our FB announcement.

  • How far along are you? Fruit if you know?    10 weeks, kumquat!! How cute!

How are you feeling?   Super tired. Yesterday I took a 3.5 hour nap and the only reason I didn't sleep all night until morning was because DH bribed me with pizza :)

Any recent or upcoming appointments/milestones?   Had my first OB appt. last Tuesday so I wont see them for another 3 weeks. I'll have my first MFM appt. two weeks from now at 12 weeks to start brain development scans.

Thoughts/vents: I'm just really frustrated with my job. They all know I'm pregnant (and high risk no less) but don't seem to care and pile on the work and overtime. I told my coworkers all they're doing is sending me to an early bedrest if that's what they want so be it.

We announced this pregnancy to both sets of parents and close friends right away. Our grandparents we just told within the last week. We didn't do anything really special or unique partly because since we lost Jack we're really on guard with this pregnancy so we haven't been making a big deal. We're trying to still celebrate this life and get excited but its a work in progress. As for the gender, I'm not sure. I think I kinda want to do something special to announce that since this baby got kinda shafted already, LOL ....not sure what though....will be stalking all comments for ideas haha :)

  • @racegurl87 Thinking of you for your appointment. A five week wait in between appointments is rough. I can't remember if you said if you have a Doppler at home or not. That helped me a ton before feeling movement but I totally get that it's not for everyone.

@cheekers2010 I am right there with you with the worry. Each stage of pregnancy has brought different worries along with it and I often think that it will be easier once he is here but like you said, I am sure we will worry about something else after that. Thinking of you for your follow up appointment.

@morethansparrows08 Congrats on being half-baked! That's a huge milestone! Yay for another boy! I think the "what if" is such a natural part of being PGAL unfortunately. I do the same thing and often wonder if it's my intuition that something will go wrong but then I remind myself that it is really just being PGAL. Hugs to you. Also, love your gender reveal idea! So fun!

@kflynn81 Haha about a kumquat! What is that anyway? LOL. Sorry about your job. People can really suck sometimes.

  • Thanks @jess123456‌ - I'll let you all know how the follow up goes.

  • @linden25 So happy to hear that your last appointment went well and that you found your nannyshare family. Planning the nursery is so fun! Do you have colors in mind? I just recently found the site Project Nursery and they have tons of ideas.
