There I am, about 4pm yesterday, living my life and the next thing I know my pee hole is about to burn off, it hurts to walk and I'm getting cramps that are growing stronger and stronger and are located from the middle of my stomach, around my left side, and into the middle of my back. When it really starts not feeling right I tell my mom "I need you to drive me to the hospital immediately". The hospital I'll be delivering at is almost an hour away but since I, personally, didn't feel like he was gonna push out my vag anytime soon, I go to the nearest ER. That 20 minute drive from my house turned into a 10 minute drive (go mom!) & was THEE most excruciating thing I've ever felt I believe. I could barely walk into the hospital, I was in tears, doubled over and sweat was pouring off of me. I looked like I had just done the ice bucket challenge.
SO...here I am. I go into the registration room and no one is in there and I can't even talk so I lay across the desk just to be able to lay on something (yea, I bet that was attractive too) & a big male nurse named Mark that looked like a sloth came in and said "hm. what's going on here?". I was literally screaming and groaning in pain and the first words I said were "I know this isn't a labor and delivery hospital, but something is wrong" & he said "Yea...it's not...follow me I guess..." STRIKE ONE, DOUCHE. He takes me to triage and they proceed to ask me every question you can think of in the slowest manor possible. I'm not one to act out when I'm in pain typically so that fact that I was standing there screaming and nearly passing out while they offered no comfort or a seat even was pissing me right off. Mr Sloth nurse comes in and tells another nurse "Well, the Dr said she needs to go somewhere else but since she's here he guesses he'll take a look...." THEN sloth nurse looks at me and said "Any chance this is just false labor?.....because next time something like this happens, you just need to call a squad so they can just take you to the hospital you actually need to be at. Where do you live at anyway that you couldn't make it to your hospital?" I promptly told him that if he would call me a squad for transport, then I would GLADLY go elsewhere and he chuckled and walked out.
SO, they put me in a tiny side room up on an exam 'bed' and let me sit in there for about 10 minutes, screaming and crying until the nurse came in. They put an IV in the back of my hand IN CASE I needed anything (but at that point had no plans of giving anything) & tried to find the heartbeat which they could not do properly and further freaked me out. After about 5 or so minutes they seemed to find it, thankfully. 35 minutes later I FINALLY am getting some relief. This intense, severe pain lasted for almost 45 minutes straight with NO breaks. The Doctor comes in, checks me, says everything Is closed and I'll be fine but they're going to transport me to "MY Hospital" (wasn't aware I owned one) and let L&D figure it out. I asked what it could be and he said "Braxton Hicks..haha!...get used to it! It only gets worse" & walks out. 2 seconds later, queue projectile vomiting. OH...and a great deal of urine
DH was a freaking trooper too. As soon as he saw the look on my face, he grabbed the trashcan, held it for me, and pulled off some kind of stretch Armstrong deal and leaned to the other side of the room to pull tissues off the wall for me. He ran out & told the nurse that I was now nearly covered in vomit and urine and she brought me a small bag to puke in. I WAS DONE! I then asked for a pillow and they said "We don't have pillows, but here's a warm blanket". I was still sweating profusely and had a fan directly in my face, I had no need for a warm anything. SO, with the help of DH I wiped, scrubbed, and cleaned myself up.
I got nothing for any type of pain but I did eventually have a bag of meds for nausea run through my IV...yay. I was THEN transported by squad to "My hospital" where I had to do an 8 HOUR Non Stress Test. In the middle of that I had more blood drawn and had an ultrasound of my kidneys done to see if I had kidney stones. around 1am we hear that I have no stones, no preterm labor but that I have a lot of blood in my urine and my blood work showed a lot of infection somewhere but they weren't sure where so I was released with no answers and still in SOME pain.
SO...I did what anyone would do and I went to McDonalds for some nuggets and went home to bed.
AND THAT is why I'm bitchy today. Happy Monday!

Re: My own personal Bitchfest Monday! (Long & Miserable :|)
moroccojade I did! thankfully. I feel ok today, just super aggravated about not knowing
thanks though!
What state are you in? I like to study this stuff.
Sure doesn't feel like nothing, BUT...hopefully it is
I'm so sorry that you were treated that way and felt soo awful! Are you feeling any better today?
Good call on the Mickie Ds though!!
That's absolutely awful. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I can't imagine feeling like that and having the hospital treat you that way. Regardless of whether they have L&D they should be able to provide you with some basic services.
I hope you feel better soon and it's just an infection and can be treated easily. Please take it easy. ((hugs))
N14 Nov. Siggy: CELEBRATION!
I hope your infection clears up and that the mickie d's was everything you needed it to be. I probably would've done the same thing.
Thank you to everyone! I'm feeling a good bit better today and have had my OB apt moved up to Thursday. Taking my antibiotics 4x a day and relaxing
Yea, you would think that an ER would at least be able to offer basic services, but I guess not. I've been so upset about how terrible I felt and how poorly they treated me BUT...it's over now I guess.
I'll keep you updated! Thanks again!!
Oh my gosh I would have wanted to punch all of them in the throat. How scary and frustrating- glad you're feeling better though!
