Trouble TTC a Sibling

AL Check-In (September 4)

*BFP Warning* There's a BFP announcement at the end of this post. Please skip it if you are having a bad day.

Welcome to the TTFAS AL check-in. This check-in is for TTCAL-ers with living children to talk about the issues about TTCAL while you have a living child. Living children and pictures of living children are welcome here, however if your pictured child is an infant (< a year old), please do place a warning at the beginning of your post to alert ladies who are having a hard day.  Please remember to post an intro on the main board as we are all here to TTC a sibling!

All are welcome to join us!
Please give us an intro with the following information if you wish: name(s)/age(s) of your child(ren), EDD(s) and where you are in your TTC journey.

If you get a BFP please send
@Nieko0423 a private PM so I can add you to our graduates list.

If you wish to keep it unlisted that is fine, just keep us updated if a particular anniversary is coming up so we can all send extra love your way.

How are all you ladies doing this week?

Re: AL Check-In (September 4)

  • Thanks for the check-in. Not much to report here. I'm CD12 of my last cycle TTA. Then we are hopefully moving on to IUI next cycle. Can't wait to get off the bench.

QOTW: my favorite fall sports team (and favorite team overall) is the Green Bay Packers!

I'm 9DPO on a TTA cycle and am off the bench next cycle. CD1, and I'm officially off the bench, although with an 8 day LP last cycle, I'm not feeling very good about jumping back into TTC.  I found out yesterday that my Protein S level were still low at 8 weeks post partum, so I got a referal to a hematologist for next week.  We'll see how he wants me to proceed (although I feel pretty certain he will say daily Lovenox injections with my next pregnancy) and whether he wants to order more blood work.

QOTW:  I'm not a big sports fan really.  I don't dislike them and can sit and watch just about anything but doing so just isn't high on my priority list.  DH is a big Bears fan though, so I'll vote them my favorite fall sports team.

  • Thanks for doing this @Nieko0423‌

    @sarcaztic10‌ big hugs, love.

I'm cd 13. I don't usually o this early, but I had a temp spike this morning. Interested to see what happens tomorrow.

Huge football fan. Don't really have high hopes for my teams this year, but my Texans did make some interesting moves this past weekend. Might have an average season. We also watch a lot of UT football in our house.

@Nieko0423 - Thanks for running the check-in!  How are you doing lady?

@BookishMomma - Hope you are off the bench very soon!

@sarcaztic10 - ((hugs)) to you.  Sorry about the BFNs.

@Missa_g - Continuing to think of you.  I wish your appt. was this week and not next but I hope you can get some answers and a plan that works for you when you meet with her.  Love to you!

@CheesyPeas - Hope the hematologist can give you a good plan and some reassurance.  Please keep us updated!

@squirmworms - Good luck with your RE appt.!

@littlecookie - Hope your chart can give you some clarity soon!

@mrandmrsk91011 - Sorry about the baby pics.  That’s so tough.  Hope January is here before you know it!

AFM: Still waiting for AF to show up from my D&C a month ago.  I had all my usual pre-AF symptoms this weekend but she never showed so who knows when she will show.  I had my first acupuncture appt. this morning and I really liked it.  The plan is to do 4-6 more weekly treatments as he wants to see me into my first cycle and then we'll go to "maintenance" visits (probably once a month or so) until I get a BFP.  Then we'll go back to weekly visits until I'm about 8-9 weeks.  He didn't recommend any herbs or traditional medicine but he did say it wouldn't hurt to add baby aspirin in so once we start TTC again we will add one baby aspirin daily after O until 8-10 weeks.  I'm actually really excited about the acupuncture so if anyone ever wants to talk about it feel free to PM. :)

ETA the QOTW (because I always forget!): I'm a Eagles fan at heart but DH grew up with the Dolphins so we route for both here.  And for college ball we cheer for Penn State.

  • Thank you for the check in @Nieko0423‌ . Seems like we have very similar loss dates: mine are Sept 29, 2014 and March 28, 2015. Update wise, I'm still playing the waiting game with my betas. They were still 1700 last week, but I finally seem to be on huge other end of the never ending spotting, so I'm praying they will start to drop more quickly now. Either way, DH is away for work for the next 6 weeks or so (single parenting sucks), so I'm hopeful it'll all be clear when he returns.

@sarcaztic10- So sorry for the bfn ((hugs))

@missa_g - I hope your appointment goes well!

@CheesyPeas - Sorry for CD1 ((hugs)) Looking at your chart, your LP seems to fluctuates a lot. Have you talked to your doc about that?

@littlecookie - I usually don't O unitl between CD16-20 but some odd months it comes early (like CD13 or 14). So it's definitely possible that you did. Do you use opks? How is your timing if you did O?

@mrandmrsk91011 - I know it doesn't seem like it, but Jan. will be here before you know it! ((hugs))

@ellebelle2384 - I hope AF shows soon and it sounds like you have an awesome plan for acupuncture!

  • @BookishMomma, @Missa_g, and @squirmworms I hope the next couple weeks go by quickly for you guys as far as TTC is concerned. I hope your daily lives are going ok as well!

I'm so sorry for the @sarcaztic10. I hope it is still just too early for you. I don't know if it is any consolation to you, but with my last pregnancy I was getting BFNs until 15DPO. Call me an optimist, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you regardless!

@CheesyPeas I hope the hematologist can help figure out a plan for you. I really don't know about it, but is the Low Protein S level the cause of the short LP?

I hope your chart can tell you something tomorrow @littlecookie

@mrandmrsk91011 big hugs! I'm sorry the photos are making the baby fever worse for you. January will be here before you know it!

@ellebelle2384 I'm glad you had a great acupuncture appointment! I have a dumb question, but what does baby aspirin do?

@LauraO11 I'm sorry to find our journeys are so similar. Unfortunately, my September EDD is only a guesstimate since I don't really know how far along I truly was. I hope the 6 weeks goes by quickly, both for the single parenting and that the spotting ends before YH comes home.

@mara005 I hope AF shows soon so you can schedule. I will make that change in Fynn's name. All my notes have it that way so I don't know what happened when it transferred.

AFM: AF finally ended on Monday so my emotions seem to finally be coming back under control for me. After telling my Mom last week I decided to tell my SIL (who also had 2 miscarriages herself) about mine. She was a little mad I didn't tell her when they were in town because she wants to give me a big hug since she knows what I'm going through. I'm also still trying to get back to a good mental place to start working out again and taking care of myself. DH is going to be working 7 nights a week until at least mid October so we are dealing with that as well now.

QOTW: I enjoy watching football and my Steelers, but I am counting down the days to Hockey Season (35 days until regular season)!! Go Penguins!!!

@mara005, I have talked with her about it, and she gave me progesterone, which did very litttle for my LP.  I tend to have a 9 or 10 day LP, with the occassional 8 day LP like this cycle, and with progesterone, I would get a whopping 11 days with the extra typically having a little spotting.  There was one crazy cycle where I actually had to stop progesterone to get my period but I have no idea what that was about.  It was a one time fluke.  My doc told me to not bother with the progesterone after it did very little for me, and I had an appointment set up to move onto next steps when I ended up getting pregnant with Layla.  I had this small sliver of optimism that my loss might've reset whatever was so messed up with my body before and my LPs would magically be better but obviously I'm heading down that same path again and will probably need to set up another appointment with her.

@Nieko0423, the Protein S is purely a blood clotting thing that may help explain my losses, so the hematologist will really just be working with me on how to increase the likelihood of my next pregnancy being successful if I am able to conceive again.  My LP is a whole other story...  I would seriously kick the shit out of my stupid body if I weren't so dependent on it for life and stuff.

Your SIL sounds wonderful.  I'm glad you decided to tell her and have her as a part of your support system.  Good luck on your quest to better physical and mental health; I'm right there with you.

  • I didn't intro last week and am a fan of short and sweet. I have a 2 year old daughter. I had chemical pregnancies 11/4 and 1/7. I had a blighted ovum loss with a due date 11/3/14. I'm prepared to lose my shit when that day gets here.

I'm 5 dpo with well time intercourse but not optimistic. Why would anything change now? I've lost my optimism after 18 months of trying. I'm on Clomid and progesterone through my ob. I have an appointment with an RE a week from Monday. I don't know that we can afford treatment options but we're at least going to price them.

  • ((hugs)) PrincessPetunias.  I hope the RE can give you some affordable options, but I also hope you don't need them!

@Nieko0423 - Not a dumb question at all!  I've always heard ladies on TTCAL and PgAL say they were taking it but I never really understood why until the acupuncturist explained today.  Baby aspirin is low-dose enough that it won't hurt anything but could help.  I never had any tests for clotting disorders come back abnormal but the baby aspirin is supposed to help blood flow to the uterus/placenta and prevent clots from forming that make it difficult for the baby to implant/grow.  Per the acupuncturist, acupuncture can help with infertility and recurrent loss from two standpoints: improving blood flow to the uterus (important for clotting disorders) and to improve egg quality (which would also theoretically improve with increased blood flow).  Since we are thinking egg quality is the issue I'll do whatever I can to improve it (since until recently no one thought you could improve it).  I don't know if it's going to help but if it won't hurt anything I'm fine taking (another) pill a day. ;)

Thanks for explaining it to me. Like you, I would see it brought up and since I haven't had any testing diagnosis a lot of the stuff some of the ladies on TTCAL bring up that they take make we question if it is something I should know about.

    All are Welcome!

  • Hi all, I'm coming on over here! I'm Amber, my son is Taylor and he is 20 months (12/30/12 birthday). I've had 2 confirmed losses, EDD 10/25/14 and 2/17/15. The first loss happened naturally at around 8 weeks, this past loss was discovered when I started spotting, went for an u/s and there was no hb at 7 weeks. I elected to have a D&C the next day. After the rough year, my H and I decided to wait until at least next year to TTC again, mostly for my sanity. My first EDD is right around the corner and I've had a bad few weeks - so OF COURSE today comes a huge box from Similac saying congrats, it's almost time! UGH.

Anyway, lots of love and support to all of you ladies. Though I'm not actively TTC, I understand how hard it is after a loss but I'm happy to have a place I can still talk openly about my little guy. Because he is pretty cool! :)

Possible triggers, bfp mentioned not mine

Rough day here I guess. My cousin called yesterday to tell me his wife is pregnant. I'm glad he told me early (they're about 4 weeks) but I can't help but be sad that my babies won't grow up with his. We were very close as kids and always looked forward to our kids playing together. I have a 2yo ds but it doesn't change the fact that my twins will never play with his kids. So I poas today (13dpo) even though we weren't really trying this month. Negative of course. And I'm cleared medically but hubby wants to wait until January and I don't feel like arguing about it but I think it's a dumb plan. So. I'm pouting. Plus my mom came by with my step sister's baby she had to adopt from her family member because they're stupid and have no idea how to take care of a kid. They get visitation while the adoption is processing and mom was telling me stories of how they tried to feed her baby food in a bottle, clogged up the nipple, and then just didn't feed her till they brought get back five hours later instead of washing it, how her bio dad called her ' fat as hell' (she's eight months old), and all kinds of crazy stuff. I just brought ds upstairs after they left and once he feel asleep in my arms I just cried.

Ahh, I forgot to mention what really got my bad day going today. I have been taking a break from FB but hopped on Instagram - there was one of my BMB friends that posted a picture of her newborn and her son together with her and her husband. I lost it, couldn't help but want to scream. My EDD is October so it just made me think of what I should be experiencing in a month. UGH :(

@BLuvsE I'm so sorry for all of that! Hearing about a bfp is not easy. My H also wants to TTA for a long time. I agreed to January, but last night he mentioned maybe we should wait longer. So frustrating. Wow, what a crazy mess that adoption situation sounds like. Good thing the baby is getting to be in the right hands. Thanks for the SScake, Yum.

  • Hi ladies,
I am slowly starting to frequent the board, enough to feel comfortable posting...
I have 1 DD, she is 5. I have two angel babies that were due 6/18/14. Right now we are ttc naturally, until the new year, and then we will discuss our RE options and go from there. Hopefully, we will not have to go there. We have been actively TTC since 2011. We have done a couple of Clomid cycles through my obgyn, but decided to wait until we go to the RE to further continue medicated cycles. For now we are all natural cycles. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and Endometriosis as well as IR.

  • Thanks for the check-in @Nieko0423!

I'm sorry I'm late to the check-in, this week absolutely kicked my butt.  I started my graduate school classes and I'm totally overwhelmed already.  I'm doubting my choice to go back for my doctorate but I think it's mostly the shock of how much work I am going to have to do.  I hope in time I'll settle into a nice routine!

On the TTC front, I got my period on Labor Day and found out that my FET won't be until the end of October!  I'm a little bummed that it's so far away, but my clinic likes to cycle women together like they do for IVF cycles.  It will give me more time to get back into shape and to focus on school for a while.  I don't have my official calendar yet but the nurse on the phone said I would be on BCPs for another few weeks before starting the drugs for the FET process.

((hugs)) to everyone who needs them this week!

  • @Frenchteachermama - Sorry that your FET is pushed back to the end of October.  I know how frustrating and endless this process seems.  I hope school gets easier in the meantime though so by the time it's October it's not as much as a stress for you.

  • Hi ladies-  I didn't get the flag for this a few days ago, so sorry I'm late to the party again!  I'll give my EDDs here-  4/2/14 and 11/28/14.  Not much new this week- still in the waiting game for my MFM consult and hoping we'll get the go ahead to start TTC in October.  At least my 2 post-loss cycles have been relatively normal so hopefully that will mean good things when we start trying.  Hope you ladies have had a good weekend!

@ellebelle2384 - I'd definitely be interested to hear how your acupunture goes as well.  Since my OB thinks both of my losses were cord/blood flow 'accidents' (no clotting issues in my testing results), I'm pretty sure I'll be on baby aspirin again next time and I may ask about acupunture.

    BFP #1- 4/2011; DD Brynn born 12/2011

BFP #2- 7/13; EDD- 4/2/14; Lost DS at 20 weeks (11/16/13) due to cord accident

BFP #3- 3/14; EDD- 11/28/14; Lost DD at 15 weeks (6/7/14)- cause unknown

To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.

@SassFrass I wanted to say welcome to the check-in. I recognize you from TTCAL. I recently found out I have suspected endo, too, though I don't know for sure since I haven't had a lap. But my doc saw what he is pretty sure is an endo cyst on one of my ovaries and, the more I read about endo, the more I realize that I have some of the (vague) symptoms. ((Hugs)) to you.

  • @Nieko0423 I would like to be added to the check-in please.

When this board was created I initially thought I would lurk for a good long while but I like the vibe thus far so I think I'll jump in while the water is still warm.

A bit about me: I have had 2 losses: EDDs of 4/2/2012 and 3/26/2015. DD is Evelyn. She is 2 and she is the boss in our house. I am starting the fall semester of school (working on my bachelors and hating life right now...Quantitative Reasoning, ugh). I also really love good bourbon. Favorite fall sports teams are the Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packers.

DH and I are benched for the next 2 cycles. AF FINALLY showed up on Friday after my m/c carriage last month.

Welcome to the check-in! I'm glad you feel comfortable over here. Now that AF showed I hope your 2 cycles fly by for you!

Hi - I have b/g twins that are 5.  We did our 3rd IUI last month with a BFN.  I'm benched this month due to leftover cysts (again).

No sports in our house, at elast on TV.
Welcome! I'm sorry for your BFN! Are they doing anything for the cyst?
Hi - no, nothing!  The day 3 U/S showed 2 larger cysts "breaking up" and showed a bunch of smaller cysts and another large cyst just there.  I have felt a lot of cramping and pain over the past few weeks so I hope that they all clear up soon (I have this issue almost every other cycle and usually when I go back on the next day 3 they have cleared up).
