My doctor was going to schedule mine at 19 weeks but when I went to make the appt at the front desk the lady said that the ultrasound tech won't do it until after 20 weeks. My appt is a day before 21 weeks, I'm annoyed they are making me wait that long. Did this happen to anyone else?

Re: did anyone else have to wait until after 20 weeks for u/s?
Our first u/s was at 19.5 wks. The only way we would have had an earlier u/s was if we were having complications or unsure of dates. (We charted.) The wait was hard, but worth it.
The bigger baby is, the more you see. You'll get to see a litter person rather than a bean...that's super exciting. We went again for an u/s at 27 wks..and the differences compared to our first ultrasound were incredible.
Best of luck!
My DR office outsources all ultrasounds to a special facility. When I made my appointment I was told the window for the "big" ultrasound was 17.5 weeks to 22 weeks. I scheduled mine a bit on the early side, at 17 weeks 2 days, and both the ultrasound facility and my doctors office agreed it was fine timing.
We were told that some measurements can be difficult to assess if the ultrasound is performed too early--particularly the heart valves--but we didn't have any problems and we found out with 100% certainty that we're having a boy. The tech said that if she had any problems getting specific measurements that she would just have us come in at a later date to have them measured.
We were also told that if we were interested in finding out the sex, it was better to schedule the ultrasound closer to 20 weeks.
My insurance doesn't cover any ultrasounds. So I paid out of pocket (only $50~plus a 2 hour drive) to get a 3D ultrasound. I was 23 weeks and 4 days.
I was 21w with my 1st pregnancy and 24w with this one.
You'll live.
