Anyone in my shoes? I'm measuring Below the 10th % and now Doppler showing abnormal umbilical cord abs placenta. Going back on Tuesday and was just told to monitor movement ... Help a very nervous first time mom...
Sorry you are going through this. My 1st was very small like 3rd percentile at 36 weeks and came induced/csection at 41.5 weeks 7 lbs 2 oz with a very long umbilical cord. I can't remember what it was called.
So it sounds like they're getting more info to determine why LO isn't growing at the proper rate. That's great! The more they know, the better they can help you and baby.
So my understanding (from my experience with IUGR in my DS) is that it could be the placement of the umbilical cord entering the placenta is not ideal, or for some reason there is resistance within the cord, making baby's body work harder to send blood back to the placenta and bring it to his/her body. Or it could be something they never mentioned to me in their search for answers.
The more they examine the cord flow and placement and the closer they look at the placenta, the more they'll learn. Ask lots of questions to learn everything you can about what's going on.
FX for you and baby and lots of T&Ps!! I've been there, and it's definitely scary. Have they told you what you might expect at this point for delivery? I was induced early with DS: their solution to him not growing properly on the inside was to deliver at 37 weeks so he could get proper nutrition for growth from the outside. He was born perfectly healthy but little at 5lbs 1oz, 37 weeks.
Feel free to PM me if you need someone to talk to.
