Made it to a year! Thanks and questions!

First of all, thank you to everyone here for all of the support over the last year. I never thought I would be able to make it a full year of BFing. DD will be one in a week and I have a large enough freezer stash that I've been weaning off BFing substituting with BM sippy cups. So thank you for helping me get make my goal!

I'm currently down to just nursing morning and night. I'm probably going to substitute the morning nursing session with a sippy cup tomorrow. Will my supply pretty much dry up at this point, or do you think I can continuing nursing at night? I don't nurse to sleep, but I do love my night nursing and then a little cuddle and talking after. DD is ready to be done nursing. I've been supplementing with some BM after my morning session because I can't get her to nurse long enough. The night session is the only time she will nurse for the full time. So we're ready to cut out the morning, but I'm hoping to hang on to the night for a few more weeks.

  • I am in the same exact boat, little one will be 1 in 11 days. I have been weaning down pumping and session, replacing with sippy cups of dozen milk. Just this week I replaced my morning nursing with a sippy cup. I was engorged come the evening, but after he nursed before bed I was fine and haven't been engorged since. I to am not ready to give up the night time nursing/ snuggles. I have heard many people who are able to just go about nursing at night only, but I think supply does drop some. I think we are headed towards it being just comfort nursing ( which I am okay with for a little bit).
Good luck and congrats on making it a year!!!

    Congratulations to you!! That's fantastic!

This past couple of weeks, my 15 month old LO started showing signs of being ready to drop the morning nursing session and I also needed to drop it for helping our mornings run easier, as I have a six year old that I also need to get ready for elementary school in the morning.  We are still nursing every night before bed, when she wants to in the evening before dinner, and kind of on demand on the weekends.  My milk supply seems to be sticking around just fine :)
