TTC After a Loss

How long should I wait?

I am having a 2nd miss carriage.  I previously m/c in August.  Ended up with a cyst on my left ovary which the old Dr. put me on the pill to dissolve for 2 months. (very Frustrating).  I switched Drs. in November. I finally was able to try again and got  a BFP 12/21 and started to m/c on 12/31.  My Dr. found out I was RH negative so i got the Rogam shot for that.  My old Dr. never told me or tested for this which makes me so mad!  My new Dr. told me to wait 2 months to try again.  I am just so frusrated as I really thought the second time this was it.

Couple questions-

I am debating on waiting until AF comes hopefully 28 days and try again, or just start right away.  What do you think I should?

Also-Is there any testing I can or shoudl ask  my Dr. about?

Re: How long should I wait?

  • I wanted to say that I am so sorry for your loss.

I dont really have an opinion on when you should try again I think that is a personal decision and should be made with the help of your dr.

    Sending you ((((HUGS))))

  • I'm very sorry for your loss. I had a D&C after my m/c and my dr told me to just wait one cycle. Good luck.
  • Left HugBIG HUGSRight Hug So sorry about your losses.  I can't tell you when you should start trying, drs seem to disagree about the best practice for this.  I was always told to wait at least one month (and up to three) because the lining is not prepared for another pregnancy so quickly and you have a greater risk of m/c with the next pregnancy.  On the other hand, I have heard that your fertility is raised following a m/c, so some drs say to try right away.  It is a hard choice, and one that you and YH have to decide what you are comfortable with.  Personally, I tried after 1 cycle the first time, and waited the second time only because I needed further testing.

As far as further testing, does your dr think that the m/c are related to the rh?  I didn't think that could be an issue so early on, but I don't know a lot about it.  I would ask for a full RPL (repetative pregnancy loss) panel.  Some drs will not do it until after 3 losses, but I think that is cruel!  If you don't feel like you are getting anywhere, you could try to find an RE in your area, they are so helpful!  Good luck!!!

  • Thank you everyone.  What is a RE?
