Less movement?

I've been feeling really good kicks all week and all throughout the day of this week. But yesterday I didn't seem to get very many kicks at all and although I've only been awake a little over an hour I haven't felt a single one today and I'm freaking out. Is there a possible and reasonable explanation as to why I'm not feeling so much? Please someone tell me I'm just over reacting and being paranoid.

I'm 18 weeks and 1 day

  • I had a week explosion of ninja crazy in my stomach too. It calmed down after a while and now I only feel movement after 5 pm. I figure that as I'm switching to all maternity clothes, I'm moving around different amounts everyday and my stomach isn't as heavy until after I eat dinner I'm just not noticing it as much or the baby doesn't have to stretch and fight to move around. I have no idea if it's true but my explination had kept me calm and I can find the hb on my doppler so I'm not stressing it.

  • As a PP said, it's early to worry about counting kicks.  It's normal for movement to come and go now - baby is still so small that not every movement will be strong enough or in the right direction for us to feel it. :)

  • Thank y'all I'm feelin a lot better now I'm just reeeeally paranoid. This is my third pregnancy and my second ended in a miscarriage so I'm just terrified all the time no matter how much I try to calm myself down. I just got a little nudge a few minutes ago and that's got me calm. I as well just finally was able to buy some maternity clothes yesterday so that could have somethin to do with it too, finally havin room and what not. I'm just a stresser right now XD I try not to post unless I REALLY need help calming down lol
  • Yep somedays my little girl dances up a storm. Some days i rarely feel her at all. I think position has a lot to this with it at this stage in the game. Im pretty sure you dont need to start counting kicks til around 25 weeks.

  • I had the same issue yesterday but I knew it was due to the change in the baby's position. But I certainly felt a lot better once I felt movement again!

  • Drink orange juice (Sunny D works best for me) or a cup of coffee/tea if you're not cutting caffeine out (I love my coffee) and your LO will start wiggling a lot more. Like the PPs said, though, it's still early so you may not feel a crazy amount of the movement but you should get at least a good roll or two :)

  • I know for me if baby is facing away from the front of my belly I can't feel her as easily!
That being said I had this last week and I'm always on edge this early so when I stopped feeling her after days of heavy movement I freaked and called in they said babies can sometimes take a rest day when they are this age! They will have a party for a few days and be mellow for a day or so! She also said that just because I do t feel her doesn't mean she isn't moving at this stage because you feel the smaller more mellow movements
    Hope that helps
