Lesson Learned

We had recently changed set up of our bedroom, unfortunately the vent of AC is right above my LO bassinet. My LO is 5 weeks old. I thought making her wear the hospital hat is a perfect solution. One night, I heard my LO making weird sounds, when I went to look at her, hat was all the way up to her nose. Thank god I was there on time. I have never been so scared in my life. I still feel guilty about this bad decision. Just wanted to share.

Re: Lesson Learned

  • I'm sorry you had such a scare. Please don't be too hard on yourself! As a FTM, I definitely see how everything is just trial and error most of the time. I would've tried what you did as well. Glad to hear you got there in time. ☺

  • Hmm. That is so strange! I've always made my babies wear a hat because I like the room so cold. Usually the only trouble I have is keeping the hat on. Glad you were right there though!

  • We had a similar issue with our AC vent as well. We bought a magnetized diverter and had it shoot up at the ceiling instead of down towards the baby.

    Sorry about the hat scare...

  • I had a hat on DS for the first week because he had a contusion on his head after a vacuum assisted birth. I didn't even think twice about it until about a week after and counted myself very lucky that nothing like what you experienced happened. Don't be too hard on yourself. This stuff happens to us all. I'm glad your LO is ok.
