Any 1st Time Mom's in Los Angeles?

Hi ladies- I'm a 33-year old first time mommy-to-be living in LA. Living in a large city and having a lot of friends in the entertainment industry, I don't know many other moms. Most of my friends are waiting for a while. I'd love to connect with other mamas in the same boat. There's only so much I can talk to my husband about, you know? Cheers, Erin

I'm a STM too living in LA -- one thing I'd recommend, as a resource, if not necessarily as much of a community, is joining a moms' listserv. I've been on Booby Brigade before (terrible name, I know) -- I'm still a member, but haven't been reading as much lately, as it's really more useful for the first few years, and my daughter is 3 now. I might get more active there soon though!

As you may be able to tell from the name, it's fairly crunchy, with lots of stuff that's pro-breastfeeding and attachment parenting, but if that's not your bag (it's only partly mine), don't worry, as there's a lot there that's useful anyway: local recommendations for doctors, mom's groups, nannies, and daycares, as well as general support for pregnancy and new-baby issues. There's also always people selling and buying gently used kids' things, so it's a good resource for that too.

I think it's generally more Central & East LA -- Mid-City, downtown, Eastside -- so if you're more in West LA, the group that covers that area is Peachhead.

Unfortunately, you can't join Booby Brigade till you're in your third trimester of pregnancy (super weird; I don't know why). If you do want to join though, go to this link and click "Join Group" -- then enter in how pregnant you are and who referred you (you can put me, I'll DM you my full name).

Till then, I'm happy to chat! I'm 32 and already getting super excited about devouring all the fresh fruit that we get year-round here! Though... I'm also super excited that an incredibly delicious ice cream parlor (Salt & Straw) is opening close to me this month -- they are going to KNOW my name there, haha!

I'm also a STM but I'm in the LA area. I know what you mean, it can be hard to connect. I joined a moms group on Meetup that has playdates at local parks, etc. Depending on where you are, there's also Macaroni Kid which is a weekly email newsletter that lists tons of cool kids activities - I've discovered a lot of fun community events through them.

I'm in Glendale, but this is my 2nd pregnancy. I am 32 years old. DS is 2 years and 4 months old. The Americana in Glendale has this free music thing for kids on Tuesdays. I also joined meetup.com.

Hi Erin! I'm a first timer too! Most of my friends have already started their families, and as much as they want to be there for me, they're just too busy!! I'm in Hollywood, where are you? We could always meet up for coffee:).
