I have the Beco Soleil carrier but didn't get the infant insert (I'm frugal plus I see it as just another baby item that will only get used for a few months). Was due a few days ago, no baby yet, but I want to be able to wear her fairly quickly. I've seen tutorials on using a rolled blanket instead of the insert but am wondering if any of you have tried it yourselves or have any tips? Not interested in buying another carrier (Moby, etc.). Thanks!
I have the Soleil and I decided to get the infant insert. I tried to use a blanket rolled up when ds was little, but I didn't feel like it offered enough support. The infant insert keeps him more snug. Last weekend I decided to try again to use just a blanket and it worked fine, but ds is now 13 lbs. So he is almost at the weight to not need an insert at all. IMO, I think the extra $25 was worth it.
