We're in Walnut Creek. I will deliver at John Muir. They recently remodeled it. My friend gave birth there in April and said it was great. Not sure how great labor can be
I'm at Kaiser too! I'll deliver in Vacaville. @alibc123, @jaxx723, @SandraRDH, have any of you delivered with Kaiser before? I don't have friends up here who are with Kaiser and was curious how it is. My plan says that for Inpatient Obstetrical Care and Delivery, the co-pay is $100...and I'm sure we will find out at a class or something...but do they tack on other costs, or is that all we would pay? Also, I really want the Medela pump, but Kaiser covers the Ameda electrical pump for free, in case you were interested in that (and didn't already know).
@Saracp78 we're so close! My DH's sister is in Walnut Creek and are down there a lot. Ha! yes, I am curious how "great" labor can be as well:)

Kaiser is the best. At least the one in Modesto is. It also depends on what kind of midwife/ob is on staff at the time. But my experience was better than I could have hoped for at kaiser.
@vixxylu....we live in the same place!! I moved up here a year ago and am still figuring everything out! I'll deliver at Kaiser in Vacaville...December 30th. Where are you delivering?
@taryniphillips, It depends on your plan with Kaiser. I called and got the specifics for my plan which I found helpful. Unfortunately, we're going to have another deducible to meet for 2015 in addition to having reached our 2014 deductible from prenatal care co-pays, etc. I haven't delivered with Kaiser before, FTM. I will be delivering at Kaiser Vallejo where my sister has also delivered for all 4 of her pregnancies.
@taryniphillips, I'll be delivering at David Grant Medical Center. No choice in the matter really. If I had it my way, I'd like to give water birth. (Sigh) maybe on the next go around. We got here in 2010 but I've been so busy with school and work that I haven't made a lot of time for socializing. Looks like my priorities are about to change.
thanks @SandraRDH, I think I will call to make sure. We don't have a deductible plan, so I'm hoping we don't have many hidden costs...but calling member services will be helpful.
@vixxylu, I hear ya! I am finishing my last year of law school this year, so it will be interesting with a newborn and 5 months left of school!! A friend of mine in Vacaville is part of a mommy and me group. They have invited me to some of their nights out, wine nights, buncos, etc, but I've never been able to make it with classes at night. A water birth sounds perfect! Your husband must be military? I'm so used to having friends around to get recommendations from, ask questions, go for walks, ...go for happy hour...it's been a change of pace since the move!
@taryniphillips, I'm active duty Air Force. My careerfield is Hospital Administration. I joined in 2010. My husband is prior Active Duty but he's in the reserve now. I'm finishing up my BA. It's been a long road one class at a time while I work. I'm pressing to finish before I deliver. I may be one class shy. It just depends on how I feel in the 3T. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it done before the little one arrives. Then, I plan to take a year off before starting my MBA! At least that's the plan.....
I've never actually played Bunco but I've heard good things. I know how it is with night classes. Between work, school, and fitness requirements, social time has really taken a back seat for me. Hey, I have to see my husband sometime, right!?
Thank you all for letting this Feb mommy crash your thread!!! I just googled and stumbled upon it.
