Postpartum blood clots (TMI)

So I just sat down to have my second bowel movement in the 11 days since my c-section and when I finished, I stood up to a long string of blood hanging from my vagina. When I pulled it out with some toilet paper, the last of it was a blood clot about the size of a cotton ball. Outside of this, I've had extremely minimal bleeding. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

Similar thing happened to me. (TMI ahead.) I had to poop and strained a little, and I literally felt like I pooped something out of my vagina. I looked and it was a gigantoid clot. So big I called the OB. He said so long as I didn't continue to have heavy bleeding I was and to take it easy. It was gross.

I had several large clots (at least 4 and roughly the size of a golf ball, some a little bigger) over the coarse of my bleed. Two the 2nd night postpartum, one at home about 4 days postpartum and the last one was a few days ago(last one I was dealing with a uterine infection so the antibiotic was clearing out all the infected blood). I was told in the hospital that as long as you aren't soaking the thickest biggest postpartum diaper pads in an hour that your ok.

My clots were accompanied with really bad achy/pain in my left side and back then I'd pass the clot (s) and I'd feel better.

I had one the size of my fist. It came out while I was in the shower. I seriously felt like I was giving birth again. My doc said I was probably moving around too much. I probably was. When I rested more there was less blood.

I had one the size of my hand which oozed out while I was standing. Called doc and she said if it's not bigger than an egg, to not worry.

Was told when discharged from hospital only to call if a clot was bigger than a lemon, so cotton ball sized sounds like realm of normal

I had some large ones as well but my ob said not to worry unless they were the size of an egg.

I had one that actually was the size of a lemon about 10 days pp. I was also having a lot of pain so I called the on call nurse. She just told me to take it easy and call back if I soaked a pad in an hour. After I passed that huge clot, my cramps and uterine pain started getting much better.

So I have a good and gross story about this. Night 2 pp while I was still in the hospital (csection), I got up to pee and passed a clot about the size of a large plum maybe a bit bigger. Doctors had kept saying, nothing bigger than a golfball, so I called for a nurse. Nurses were all tied up so they send in the CNA/tech. She looks in the toilet, puts on a pair of gloves, and proceeds to fish this giant clot out of the toilet in an attempt to save it to show my nurse. I caught a glimpse of my horrified/confused face in the mirror and wish someone had had a camera. Anyways, nurse finally comes in. Tech hands her a bowl 'o blood clot. Same "you're 12 shades of crazy" look on the nurse's face. Told her I was fine. It was probably pooling from having been asleep on my back for two hours and to please, for the love of god, flush it.

I had one the size of a gold ball with my first PP poop and it was definitely big enough to feel it. Since then I had some cotton ball size ones too. Most of the clots I had came after I was back at home and while my bleeding was slowing down. The clots are totally normal, so OP as long as it isn't the size of an egg, there is no need to worry!

So I'm now 3 weeks postpartum and just passed something that looks like an alien fetus. It's much bigger than and different looking from the clots I had passed closer to birth. Does this warrant a call to the doctor or no?
