RRL TEA

Has anyone been drinking it? I am sorry if this has been asked before, I just read about it a little so I figured I'd ask the October moms...How often do you drink it? and should you talk to your dr about drinking it before you do? also, where do you get it?

  • I bought some. Haven't received my package yet.
  • Did you buy the tea itself of the pill you take?

  • I started drinking Pregnancy Tea (with RRL in it) a few weeks ago.  While I don't think it will help much, I mainly drink it for the taste as I am getting sick of water all of the time.  The package says that you can drink it up to 3x per day.  My OB said I could drink it if I wanted to

  • I drink it. It's not very tasty (pretty bland, actually). My doula also got me a package of Yogi Women's Mother to Be blend, which has RRL in it as well as peppermint, spearmint, stinging nettle, dandelion, fennel and cardamom. So far I'm liking the flavor in that blend much better.

  • I bought loose tea.
  • I have heard good things about RRL tea, however I haven't tried it. I think I would if I could find it at a local health food store rather than having to order it.

  • Someone link me to what you're drinking on Amazon or something. I did want to do this, mostly because I'm tired of decaf coffee anyway, so, if it works, fine. If not, fine.

    Red Raspberry Leaf

ETA: Ohp! Slow response by me. Weaky face
  • On a non-pregnancy note, I drink it for cramps during my period.   It actually helps to take the pain away.

I'm going to start drinking it, I think, right around my due date as I had a c-section with my daughter and apparently its not recommended if you have had a csection.

  • I've been drinking it semi-regularly since I was 24ish weeks. I like the taste of it. I like drinking hot tea anyway, so I don't care if it's effective or not. It couldn't hurt. I also make a big batch of it combined with more flavorful teas and drink it iced during the daytime. I like to combine it with chai or other more exciting herbal teas.

  • I got mine at Kroger in the health section. I drink it 1 maybe 2 times a day? I figured why not -- I like tea anyway!

  • I've been taking the capsules since about 24 weeks. Oddly enough, I'm having less BH than I did with DS1. I take one capsule in the evening and starting at 36 weeks I'll take one in the morning as well.

  • I drink the Yogi Mother-to-Be tea (like some pp) and I like it cold and with honey. I just can't do hot drinks, especially in the summer. Anyway, my doula recommended RRL so I figured I'd try the tea as a friend gave some to me.

I just bought some today from the drugstore but I've also bought it from vitamin shops. I drank it last pregnancy too. My doctor suggested it to me last time so I figured it wouldnt hurt to do again. I usually have one cup in the morning and one at night. The box says to have it 3-4 times a day but that seems excessive to me.

I also noticed that my BH got more a little stronger after I drank it for a while. We'll have to see if that happens again.

This is my third time drinking RRL in 3rd tri. I get it at Wegmans or whole foods stores, and I get the RRL only. I don't get any of the pregnancy blends as they have a much lower concentration of the RRL. I try to drink it 3 x day, and it's important to let is steep for at least 10 minutes. I personally feel that it's effective. I notice the BH get stronger, and my labors have been relatively short so far.

ETA: RRL swapped for RLL ;)

Personally I don't put credence in any of the OWTs.  I know some women swear by them, but chances are very high you'll go into labor at some point between 37 and 42 weeks and any connection between tea, or spicy eggplant parm or pineapple is likely correlation and not causation in my mind
RRL doesn't trigger labor-it's just to help tone the uterus for stronger, more effective contractions during labor and then for quicker return of the uterus to normal size after delivery.

  • My BFF just sent me a big ass bag of it today! It totally looks like weed. Just made a huge batch in the coffee maker to have iced tea. I do prefer the mother to be blend though.

Lol. Nastiest weed I've ever seen.

  • I think I like the taste too much. I find myself just gulping it down.

I have to remember that it's not just regular tea. I wonder if there is such thing as too much.

Almost drank 2qts in 24hrs....to put things in perspective.

Could you do 1/2 RRL and 1/2 another herbal tea so that you can feel better about your gulping? I bet ginger tea would go well with it!
I will definitely give it a go. I'm such a tea lover.
  • I am going to the dr. today and I will go get some. Does anyone do the tea bags or actually get the leaf? I just want to make sure I am getting the right stuff.

  • I drank it with my last baby and now with this one. I have natural labor. Midwife said only 1 cup per day for now in 3rd trimester only. It helps make the contractions more efficient. My labor with baby #3 was 1 hour and I credit the Chiro, RRL tea, and trio of supplements my midwife put me on. :)
  • Yes there is such a thing as too much.
  • I just ordered the Earth Mama Angel Baby "Third Trimester Tea" from Amazon. It's a blend with Red Raspberry Leaf, similar in ingredients to the Yogi Mother-to-Be blend but cheaper. Hope I like it!
  • I'm drinking about 2 cups a day since 34 weeks.. I brew a bunch and put it in a pitcher to drink cold for a couple days! Anyone know what aisle the capsules would be in? Also, my box just says raspberry leaf tea.. Is that different than red raspberry leaf? Hope not!

  • @kmt104 As long as it says it's for uterine health or something like that on the box, then yes. That's the right stuff. My box also says just Raspberry Leaf tea.
