TTC After a Loss

Healthy Living Accountability

edited September 2014 in TTC After a Loss

I know it was a short week, especially since I'm late, but let's be accountable :-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise or anything in between.
We check in on Mondays and follow up with an accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it is set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you are using MFP and have not found us yet, let us know so we can friend you!
So, let's hear it... what worked well this week for you? What didn't? If you're new, jump on in - we'd love to have you on this journey with us!
Here's your inspiration for the weekend (this is a reminder of how thankful I am for this group!) :
Re: Healthy Living Accountability
  • I actually have been doing terrible the past 2 weeks - I had to travel for work but tried to make good choices. This week I've been starting my days out well, but by night time I'm stressed and stop caring. I'm giving myself the weekend to snap back into it and will be back at the gym Monday. I have about a month until I travel and see my sister and have an event, so I'd love to lose some weight before then!
  • @mrandmrsk91011 great job on the weight loss and healthy habits!
    I don't feel like I've done horrible this week, but the scale totally disagrees with me. :( I've been feeling really munchie at night. I can't seem to control it. Maybe my AF is coming soon...
    But I've successfully avoided soda all week - keeping my streak going. I'm at 16 days today! And I've also been trying to be more active during my lunch breaks. I'm on track to hit my goal this week, so that's good.
  • I started the September challenge that @Km380 posted earlier this week. Of course I only started it yesterday though. I have also tracked my eating for the last three days. I'm beyond where my goal calories should be, but I'm more impressed of actually tracking. Here's to keeping it up this weekend.
  • I've been really bad the last few weeks and was contemplating leaving you lovelies. BUT yesterday I went to the gym for the first time in a month. I did a 30min cycle class and it was brutal. I fully stopped 3 times, I've never stopped before. But I went. Bc I wanted something good to finally report here. I also weighed myself in the gym scale and amazingly it has not gone up. So here I am. Hoping to be be better
    @Nieko0423‌ oh I'm glad you started it! I haven't yet :-(
  • Food wise I did well. Well, beyond today. Lots of time in the car, so chips came along.
    But today I did some combat movement exercising, which was awesome. I'm really feeling it and I think I'll continue it at home.
    Looking forward to next week!
  • @mrandmrsk91011 – I’m so glad that you ate well this week and got your exercise in.  Yay for the scale moving too!
    @Ambmama – Travel is hard… A month is a great amount of time to make some really good changes!!!!  How can we support your efforts?
    @smagglebit – Ah, the scale is often mean… have you ever taken measurements?  Those can tell a good difference in lieu of the scale.  Also, with munchies – I found for me without soda that I had the munchies some.  I added in a LaCroix to give me a soda feel without the soda and it helped.  Also, finding healthy munchies (like frozen grapes) can be good too.
    @Nieko0423 – yay! So excited you started the challenge and have been tracking your food.  Keep it up.
    @km380 – I won’t let you leave so don’t worry J  Seriously though, I’m glad you went to the gym and did the cycling class… Even if you don’t feel like you are able to participate here fully, still stick with us because it will help.
    @powerofbacon – bummer on the pinterest fail!  UGH!  The .2 is probably water weight – just jump on it now and it will go down in no time!
    Car time does often = munchies... Combat sounds fun though - what all did you do.
  • Hi, ladies I'm new to this forum and have done a few postings. I feel fairly healthy but did gain 21 lbs in the process of moving across the country and a lot of other stressful things! I need to get it together, but its a struggle! Goodluck to everyone.
  • @nami97 - welcome.  We're glad you found us.  Moving is stressful enough - add other things to it and BAM!  I get what you mean.  We check in on Mondays and Fridays so I hope you'll continue to check in with us so we can encourage you.
    @amybunny30 - eh, this week has been messy... BFN this morning = stress eating... DH is all optimistic that it's too early (12DP trigger), but somehow I doubt it... UGH!  And my inlaws are coming in town again this weekend and staying for 5 days.  EEK!
  • Well i ate well, took the steps every day all day at work, but all the weight I had lost came back. :( I am beginning to wonder if I don't eat enough and my body thinks it is being starved or something. I was really bad about tracking and exercise though, so I am trying to buckle down this weekend so that next week is better. I am also struggling to try to change our house to much less gluten since I found out I am intolerant.
  • @Elliecat17‌ I'm also gluten intolerant. I've been gluten-free free for about a year. It can be a struggle. There have been times where I have thrown full on tantrums about it. I've found, though, that without it, I lose weight. Any time I eat gluten, even accidentally or small amounts, I gain weight for about a week. PM me if you want to chat. Good luck to you :)
  • @MrsG80inTN I did something called Combat Systema.  It involves a lot of moving around and getting up from a sitting or laying position without using hands.  It looks like dancing honestly when you aren't being attacked.  But it uses muscles that I never recall using before!
    I'm sorry about your bfn.  =(
    @Elliecat17 sometimes you really need to record your food to make sure you are eating to your base metabolic rate at least.  Your body will try to keep onto it's weight as much as possible!
  • Thanks for the check-in @MrsG80inTN‌! I'm sorry for tww stress :(
    Afm: I've been sweating my ass off in my classroom this week. So that's been helping with drinking more water. On top of that I have barely been sitting when the kids are in so that is good. However due to pms I've been craving way too much and been giving in :( I hope next week I'll get back on track and back to regular exercising. I told my sister I would do a 5k with her in October. So I need to get it together.
  • Hi ladies!  I started a diet bet about 2 weeks ago and it's really helped keep me accountable.  If you don't lose at least 1/2 lb per week, you owe $1.  If you gain, you owe more.  It's 6 weeks and you have to lose 6% of your body weight or more to be a winner and the top 3 each win money based on the $6 "entry fee" as well as any money that was put into the pot during the bet.  I didn't have a great week last week due to the holiday weekend, but I've lost 5.5 lbs in the last 2 weeks, so it's been great!  Really hoping to get down another 5lbs by the end of the bet which would put me at my lowest since college.  That will also hopefully be when we get the ok to TTC, so we'll see!  Hope everyone has been having a good week!
