I really want to prevent plagiocephaly(flat head) especially after my cousin's LO had to wear a helmet for months. I have noticed that DS always wants to look to the right. He sleeps(very well) in a RNP at night and always turns his head that way. He won't sleep completely flat. During the day he sleeps on my or DH chest or occasionally in the newborn napper attachment of the PNP. I feel like his face is slightly flatter on the R side and I am getting worried. During the day I give him tummy time several times and try to make him turn the other way. I also try to alternate which side his head is on while on my chest. I just thought about the fact that I BF him in football hold on the R and cross cradle on the L and that may be contributing as well. Is anyone doing anything else? Should I get him out of the RNP? Am I a crazy, paranoid FTM, lol?
Re: Paranoid about baby's head
Can you switch up your BFing holds and try the opposite football/cross cradle for a day or two? Or just always do football or always do cross cradle so he has to look both ways? You should also mention your concern to your pedi at the next checkup. I think they typically recommend exercises to make the baby turn his head both ways if they diagnose torticollis.
