Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

crib stripping

So LO is now about 18MO. She has just hit this "phase" . When we put her down for the night she will play in her crib with her lovies for up to an hour. Last night i finally broke down and went in because she started crying out of nowhere. Well its because she was naked and cold. We have found her without pants before which is nothing new. She likes to take her pants on and off with the "up" "down" after each. Learning opportunity.

Last night was a first for everything coming off. Pants, shirt, and diaper! She was shivering and crying. I know that this is probably just her learning that she can herself do these things...Do i try and stop it? If yes then how? I want her to keep trying for independace but i also dont want to wake up to a crib full of pee or worse!

Re: crib stripping

  • Ahhh that fun stage.  My friend had her daughter wearing footed zip pj's backwards for a long while...because the diaper would come off.  If the pj's are a bit big then put them on backwards adn spin the feet around so they go on normal.  When she told me she was doign this I couldn't picture it at all...then they spent the evening here and put her daughter to sleep in our quest room so I saw what they meant and sure enough they fit perfectly and the zipper was behind the girls back so unreachable.

I'll never forget the utter confusion a friend had when they put their 18ish month old son to sleep one night in a sleep sac wearing a diaper and t-shirt.  They woke the next morning to find a perfectly dry diaper on the floor and their son in his sleep sac and t-shirt...soaking wet.  He had somehow managed to remove just the diaper, from inside his sleep sac, before going to bed!! Hahahahaha.  Toddlers...gotta love them!!
