Weird pregnancy things

List your quirky symptoms or side effects:
DD#1: I had this weird itchy burny sensation under the skin on my upper belly. It was roughly the size of a silver dollar and was likely a nerve thing according to the doc.
DS: I had vertigo only in the middle of the night. When I got up pee I had to hold onto the walls to keep from falling over.
DD#2 (current pregnancy): can feel my spot coming back!

With both #1 and #2 my jaw hurt and cracked and felt out of place at the very beginning of the pregnancy.  It hurt to eat.  I guess that joints getting looser thing hits me hard in the jaw??  That's how I knew I was pregnant the second time before I even took the test.

  • I have a vascular birthmark on my chin. My first two pregnancies I had what looked like an ugly red mole pop up, hormone/birthmark related, and had to have them removed. Hasn't happened quite yet this time, but I think there's a spot that's a candidate for a new one. last two were in the same place, this one is different. I'm really hoping it doesn't grow :(

  • Oh yeah! I forgot the only craving I ever had was for about a week for spaghettios and yoohoo and only with my first pregnancy. Someone pointed out to me that yoohoo tastes like chocolate milk and baby powder...it does.

I've never had a Yoohoo...I think with that description I never will!

    Seriously, don't do it.

I like yoohoo out of a glass bottle, but I tried one-serving Yoohoo powder that you mix in milk (or water?) and it was SO GROSS. :(

  • When I was preg with my first which ended in a miscarriage, I grew baby hairs right by where I part my hair and they would stick straight up. It was a group of hair too so I just looked stupid.

Same thing happened with this pregnancy, which is what made me take a test.
  • Huh! My hairdresser knew I was pregnant because when you are pg your body holds on to nutrients so well that often times your hair doesn't fall out and sometimes grow 2-3 hairs per follicle. That's why you also experience so much shedding when you are 4 months after the birth.
  • My weirdest thing is the carpal tunnel.

My SIL, though, coughed through 2 entire pregnancies. Horrible horrible cough the entire pregnancy for both her kids. Doctors didn't know why and never were able to get rid of it. When the babies came out, she stopped coughing. Sounds miserable and I'm so relieved that it didn't happen to me!
  • Massive hot sauce cravings! I've gone through a Costco sized bottle of Franks in three months. Sad part is that it isn't spicy enough for me but I'm afraid of anything hotter due to the resulting heartburn!

  • Idk how weird it is. But I get the yucky taste in my mouth after eating. It's worse with sweets. And super annoying. Especially since I didn't have this with the other three pregnancies. Ugh.

  • I realize I forgot one!  I've developed really realy dry skin around my mouth.  My poor lips are dying... the rest of my skin is fine, just my mouth.

  • I've had the itchiest elbows...doc said looks like could potentially be the beginning of psoriasis. Woof. But starting to clear up with some ointment so that's good.

  • I have the weird aftertaste thing too, specifically when I have anything super processed.
  • I have this whooshing sound but only in my right ear. I hear it most when I'm still and the room is quiet. Guessing it's all that extra blood flow.

Also, I've got tiny red dots on my stomach, but they're not itchy at all.

My mom said she had both of these while pregnant. Strange!

  • I thought I was going crazy with the terrible aftertaste thing after EVERY FOOD I EAT!! It doesn't matter if it's sweet, sour, natural, or processed. Sometimes it's even after brushing my teeth. Driving me insane!

ME TOO! It drives me bananas!

My weird thing is the skin on the bottom of my big toe and heel is peeling. But not in a normal way, they're coming off in tiny little shreds that have me clipping it all the time. Once a little piece of skin snagged on the carpet and tore right down to the meat! Yeouch!

@ExcitedMama2‌ that is me right now with spaghetti o's! They make me so sick but it's all I want every day. And a grape snow cone sounds amazing... You may have just started something... :)
  • I have a clump of breast tissue in my armpit. It's usually unnoticeable except it gets a little puffy around my period. My first symptom of pregnancy is that it swells to above average size. Right now, it's the size of a ping pong ball. I was hoping to get it removed when they took out a mass in my breast last year.

This was me with DS #1.  I wanted wings all the time.  The hotter the better.  Funny part from my last pregnancy, though, was that things like salad or milk would give me horrible heartburn, but buffalo wings???  No effect on me at all!!!

    Also - couldn't get enough of McDonald's (or anyone's) vanilla soft-serve cones.

With this one, I'm not as much into the hot sauce, but our house must always fully stocked with chips & queso, which I was never that in to before.
Myles was so pumped about the baby . . . until he figured out he'd have to share all his toys!!!

  • With DD my leg hair basically stopped growing, I liked that one!

This time nothing too weird with me, but yesterday in the OB office two pregnant ladies were talking about how they can't swallow their saliva. One literally was carrying around a pringles can to spit into.

This happened to a friend in highschool.  she'd carry around a coke can.  I've heard the over production of saliva is common in younger moms.

  • Not related: every time I see this thread I think of that scene from Zoolander... "little kid things!" Hahaha

With DS: insatiable sex drive. OMG.

With 2nd pregnancy (miscarriage): craved comfort food -- collared greens, zipper peas, tomato gravy etc. I was also super irrationally angry and pretty depressed from the start.

With this pregnancy: I'm starving all the time but can rarely force myself to eat, or if I do it's not a lot. It kills me

  • Has anyone experienced a weird breast milk-type smell on their boobs? I'm sorry if that's TMI but I got towel fluffies on me so I was scratching them off and got a whiff and was really grossed out :( this is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure if it's normal and how long it will last but it seems like an embarrassing thing to talk to people IRL about since they may just think I should take another shower? Thoughts STMs?
  • I am almost 20 weeks pregnant with a boy. Horrible nausea for the first 4 months, now horrible heartburn for the past few weeks. I can't eat ice cream or anything too sweet....which is completely shocking and disappointing to me. However....frozen yogurt soft serve and pizza and buffalo tenders have been my savior.
  • If I'm in public and a baby is crying near me, my nipples start to feel weird (tingling and burning). It just happened for the first time last weekend. I'm am completely freaked out. My friend said that they will probably start leaking later on when that happens. WTF???

  • I can't eat a lot of meats. I can stomach a little but it starts to gross me out after a few bites.

And I have had a cough through most of the pregnancy. It got really bad for about a week but hasn't really gone away.

My belly is getting super fuzzy. I look like I'm turning into a gorilla. It's really starting to gross me out, and DH can't tell me with a straight face (though he keeps trying) that it looks fine.

    Oh yeah, that's me too.

  • Thanks for the reply, @ExcitedMama2‌ I'm relieved that it's okay and normal. And not that I've turned into a smelly human :P
  • My belly button is starting to look really different. It hasn't popped out yet but I guess you can say it's at some sort of strange in-between stage.
  • All I want to eat is Cheez-its.  That salty, cheesy taste is so delicious.  Oh, and itchy breasts.

  • My hands keep falling asleep at night. It is so weird.m
  • New onset lactose intolerance. Wet seats from butt sweat. Fuzzy belly. Oh yeah!
  • I forgot about the increase in sweating. I've been drowning myself in lavendar baby powder to combat that. It may just be that I live in HELL, oh I mean texas. Lol

This too, but I sleep with my hands under my chin and cheek at night like a child so it doesn't surprise me.
  • Around 6-8 weeks in, I developed serious stretch marks stretching from my crotch to just past my knees, in arches above my love handles, and across my ass. Later on, I developed a few in each of my armpits. Needless to say, I haven't been able to fit into most of my clothes since month two. My belly, surprisingly enough, is stretch mark free, despite its impressive increase in size.
  • With DD I would wake up in the morning and my thumbs would be dislocated and I wouldn't be able to use them for a few minutes. Plus I had PUPPS for the last 4 months of pregnancy. If I couldn't get some ice to chew on, I would panic.

This pregnancy nothing so far seems weird. I'm just so over the severe constipation.

  • I also have this weird thing that happens with my muscles at the top of my baby bump. When I engage them by sitting up from laying down they make a mound in the center. Don't know if i am describing that right but it is totally weird.
