My son is 5.5 weeks old he is a great nurser, but in the last 24 hrs he has only pooped once. Is this normal? My daughter was very "regular," so I never had to deal with going 24 hrs without a poop.
As they get older they tend to go longer between poops. Make sure baby keeps nursing well and is hydrated and then just wait and see. They can go quite a few days without pooping as a regular thing and dr usually won't get worried unless it's a week or more.
usual answer is to dress them in a pretty outfit, put them in the carseat, go visit granny and forget the diaper bag. hehehehehehehehe
This! I usually tell the parents of Breastfed babies at the daycare I work at: if it's been over 48 hours, give your ped a call and see what they say. Make sure baby still has plenty of "wet" diapers. Also, since bf poop is more watery, it may seem like they haven't had a bowel movement but they may have. Hope this helps a little!
I agree with PP. I think it was around that time that my son started going longer between poops. He doesn't usually go more than two days without pooping, but I understand that some babies poop only once a week. As long as you are getting plenty of wet diapers and he is gaining weight, he should be fine.
