Which Jogging Stroller?

Hello ladies! My husband found out that he has $500 to use towards the cost of a jogging stroller before the end of the year (it's a use it or lose it type thing) as part of his company's fitness program. It says we can get a "Bob or similar jogging stroller" so it seems pretty open as to what we can get.

We already have a travel system style stroller, so we don't need anything like that. I hadn't really considered getting a jogging stroller so I didn't look at them at all, but I guess I might as well if they are offering! Does anyone have one that they can reccomend or one that they love?

  • Also we live in a big city, so anything that is maybe more on the smaller, easy to maneuver side would be helpful!

  • I haven't bought one yet but I've read good things about the Bob ones. Also baby jogger. Which is already a brand I like for my city mini.

  • A true jogging stroller as a locked wheel, which makes maneuvering in the city difficult.  If you are really looking for a stroller to use while jogging, I love my Bob Ironman jogging stroller.  The front wheel is locked on that model, but it is super lightweight and E loves riding in it.  I use it to jog around our hilly neighborhood, and it is very easy to run with.

Some jogging strollers come with the ability to lock the front wheel when you're actually running with it, but I don't have experience with those models.  Bob is really a great brand if you want a stroller to use while jogging.  I think I've heard the baby jogger isn't really a jogging stroller.

  • Yeah I'm a little nervous about them being on the huge side. Has anyone checked out the Bob Revolution CE? It's marketed as their "urban" option I guess?

Runners world likes the revolution overall, not sure about the size difference

  • The Baby Jogger City Mini is awesome for big cities! I live in Chicago and have used it as a nanny in the city for years and as soon as I found out I was pregnant I bought one for myself! I highly recommend it!

I love the city mini as a regular stroller but it's not really a jogger. Depending on the length of your runs and the terrain, you may be able to get away with it.

  • The majority of Baby Jogger's strollers say specifically "not intended for jogging" so I'm not sure how closely the company is going to look at whether or not the stroller is an actual jogging stroller. The City Elite that PP mentioned looks awesome though!

  • I have a BOB double and love it. I also just got a single BOB so I am obviously a big fan of BOB joggers. :\">

  • My sister wanted a BOB originally and when she went to look at them the salesman sold her on the City Elite by Baby Jogger instead. She really likes the City Elite and she jogs with it on a regular basis.

  • Yeah, we have a decent travel system right now, and I wasn't planning on jogging with baby anytime soon. I wouldn't need the car seat attachment option for it. Or not planning on it, anyway.

I've been able to rent both the BOB Revolution and City Elite (the Baby Jogger City Mini jogger version), and for size alone I prefer the City Elite (or any Baby Jogger stroller).  Everything else about it is quite comparable to the BOB. If you plan on taking real trails a lot, perhaps the BOB is better, but the Baby Jogger saves quite a bit of space and you can also take it on some less-rugged trails as well.
Where did you rent them from?? Didn't know that was an option!
  • Bob makes great running strollers, but they are all on the bulky and heavy side. I personally have a Bob single. For a double running stroller, I'm debating between a Bob and Mountain Buggy. I'm not as familiar with the Mountain Buggy models, but they do have an urban and a mini model. I was introduced to the Mountain Buggy brand when I learned that's what Kara Goucher bought when she had a baby (she's an Olympic runner).

  • We have a bob revolution, single stroller right now and I love it so much, however I don't jog, we just walk a lot, I would agree that it's pretty heavy and not very compact but very easy to maneuver.
