Baby acne/eczema

What are you ladies using to keep lo's face clear? Aquaphor? My DS looks like he hit puberty.

Re: Baby acne/eczema

  • I'm experimenting w breastmilk, which seems to be helping somewhat. Just rubbing a little of the spillage from when he unlatches across his cheeks.

Otherwise, I'm just waiting for it (and his milia) to clear up on its own.

  • Mine has a bit of milia on his face. We aren't doing anything to it and it's slowly going away. It's just part of what happens.

I did accidentally shoot him in the face with some breast milk this morning though. (It just came in so it was a surprise to me as well!) I'll let you know if it speeds any healing up.
  • Breast milk facials here too. He gets really confused when he can smell more milk but not get to it, but it does seem to help.

  • Milk or just a wet washcloth, is all hormonal like puberty acne, you don't want to clog up the pores to much with aquaphor (unless it's dry/eczema)

  • My pedi told us that the facial acne is something that pretty much all babies get as their hormones regulate and to just rinse with water or do nothing. Eczema, on the other hand, very rarely appears on the face or diaper area. It's much more likely to show up on arms, behind the knees, and on the torso.

We battle severe eczema with DD and for her we do frequent baths with very mild soap or no soap, then as soon as she's out of the water, we slather her arms and legs with aquaphor. I wouldn't use any lotion on a newborn's face or really anywhere but their diaper area without consulting a pedi.
  • Coconut oil is great too. I used that and breastmilk with DS1. So far, DS2's skin is staying pretty clear
  • Being a lurker.... You can google and see some before and afters but some of my friends swear by this product called soothe number 2 made by the dermatologists rodan and fields. May be worth a try?
  • Update: no vast improvement from accidental milk facial. It's still the gradual healing.
  • DS is now just clearing up, it's been about a week. DD had it much longer and worse! I've just been making sure to wipe his little face with a warm face cloth every day.

  • @Ck61‌ My daughter looks exactly like that right now. I made an appointment for today, but I feel like it might be a waste of time...

My first has eczema but nothing like this.

  • I had my month appt today and pedi recommended using cetaphil to wash face. If it didn't clear up in a couple days then use hydrocortisone cream.
