Too many follies??

Never thought I would have this problem. On oral meds I would get one follie if I was lucky. I was also slow to respond to injects- took them several days longer than normal. I had a monitoring appt today, tentative plan was to trigger for IUI tomorrow. But now I may have too many follies close to maturity. I grabbed a photo of the screen before I left- what do you all think? The doctor said they have to look at the bloodwork results before making a decision. How much can the bloodwork impact this decision?

They will look at your E2 levels, but in all likleyhood you are cancelled just like me. I had 5 mature follies this morning and got a big thumbs down. So I guess we will have to drink together. Sorry hon.

I don't have any info for you (I will be doing my first IUI next cycle). But I just wanted to wish you good luck. If you get cancelled can you still do TI?

Not for me but will depend @lupineaura‌ doctor decide, being allowed to TI may also depend on the hubs counts and so on. TTA for me, hoping lupinaurea gets a better result.

i will preface this with the statement that i've never done IUI or injects. but my nurse sense is tingling... isn't is rather dangerous to do TI with 12 follies?? like, if DHs count is fine, you technically could fertilize alllllll of them. i can't imagine any doc in his right mind would give you the go ahead to do TI @lupineaura unless you are going to octo-mom's RE.

@jodee37 I only count 5 mature, if she triggered today I think only 5 would be mature and I still think its unlikely that she get green lighted for TI, but I was just saying that she should see what her doc says.

some practices vary on this slightly, I believe the minimum is 14mm, but my RE feels that 16 or higher is more likely actually mature.

And they can grow 1-3 mm a day so after the trigger, more could be mature.

I don't if it's standard but my RE says it's the size that they are on day of trigger, but none the less still too many

Yeah maybe...just thinking that if she's not triggering til tomorrow, a few of those slightly smaller ones in the 13mm range could grow!

So, as I was going to reply, the nurse called. We are a go. I asked about the number of follies, and she said they think only three are mature. She said they like to see them at 18. Plus I guess my estrogen wasn't super high. I don't know what's normal, but mine was 335 (I think- I didn't write it down). So, I triggered and IUI tomorrow. I admit I'm a bit terrified. I don't need a reality show. Then again, it still could result in a big fat zero. Thank you all for your replies. I admit they are making me hesitate, but I do trust my doc. Then again, apparently they have a 40% twin rate for successful inject cycles....seems high. I mean, I could cope with twins but more than that gives me a bit of a panic attack....

Okay, Dr. Google has made me feel less nervous for once. In reading that your E2 level should be between 200 to 300 per mature follicle. Does that sound about right? If that's the case then I'm guessing I only have 1 to 2 follicles which actually have mature eggs. FX...

I didn't read all the comments, sorry if it's already been said- You have 5 mature now, and the 4 - 13s will finish up with that trigger, so yes, most definitely this should be canceled, and you should be very careful to avoid with this many potentially mature. The last thing you want is the be the next Octomom.

@potatocastillo‌ did you see the update with the e2 number? Does that make it seem better? I trust this practice pretty well (I also went to them for my daughter). They seem pretty confident it's safe to go forward, but I am also nervous.

I see here, Idk, if you trust them, then go for it. I just know when I have anything over 15mm a mature follicle comes out, so for me personally this would make me super nervous to proceed. Hopefully (really FX) you won't get KU with an insane amount of babies, but at least one, right? I always think the absolute worst case scenario for treatment cycles would be a selective reduction- which is probably why we see a ton of triplet/quads moms from IUIs. Who could go through all the work to get KU, and then have to risk losing everything because you try to reduce one or two, you know?

So scary.

It is scary. And frustrating. It's like, either I don't respond at all or have to worry about HOM. Gah. Thanks for the well-wishes. I'm going to talk to the doctor before the procedure to make sure. I'll keep you posted.
