Reflux babies

So this may be a dumb question, but for those of you who have babies with reflux, how did the doctor determine it was reflux? I will call tomorrow about it, but I am starting to wonder if the reason DS2 cries so much when he is awake is because of reflux. My sister just came into town today and even mentioned it. He doesn't spit up a lot, but always seems uncomfortable, even after passing gas and burping after breastfeeding. He sleeps in a RnP at night and even that recline doesn't seem to make a difference, he likes to be completely upright unless I can sneak him into it after getting him to sleep soundly.

Re: Reflux babies

  • DD1 didn't have any obvious symptoms other than constant crying and disrupted sleep. As a result, it took a long time for her to get diagnosed and treated. We didn't really confirm the diagnosis until she responded so well to the medication.

It's good that you're looking into it early. DD1 was 8 months old before we got her treated, and I still regret the delay. It's hard to think that she was in screaming pain all that time.

  • My 4 week old was diagnosed after first week visit. She clear passage do a sit up eating and sits up 30 minutes after eating. At night I put her on her belly to sleep on an incline and that really helps her. Sucking a pacifer also helps
