So two days a week I watch another baby. My husband knows the mom through the student group he advises. Now up until today I assumed that they shared the rear-facing carseat between two cars. Dad drops baby off in the carseat and then mom grabs the carseat when she picks baby up. Today my assumption proved false. We were outside when mom picked baby up. I watch her put the baby in the car. She placed her almost 9 month old baby in a forward facing car seat. This child in no way has outgrown a rear-facing and probably doesn't fit properly or safely in the forward facing seat.
My question is, any advice on how to approach the mom on this subject. I cannot just let this go, given the age and size of the child. I don't want this thread to turn into a debate on when to turn your child forward facing. I think we can all agree that 9 months is way to young to be forward facing. So for the safety of the child I want to say something, but I don't want to come across as trying to be a superior parent. She is young and a first time mom so I don't want to sound like I am belittling her in anyway. I won't have the baby again until Tuesday so I have some time to formulate what to say, so I figured I would ask you wonderful ladies for some advice on how to approach this subject with the mom.

That's weird too, though, right? I wonder why dad thinks she has the seat in her car if not to use it.
Sorry, again, I know that's not the point. It's just bugging me because it doesn't make sense! Good on you for trying to educate them. I hope they will listen. Keep us updated
