Help! Moms with older kids too

My 3 yr old son has recently started peeing his pants again at home! We have a 3 week old baby girl. I am not sure if this is my 3yr old "regressing" or him just not getting to the bathroom in time? He only does it at home or when he is with us. He goes to daycare/pre-school and they never report him having accidents. He loves his new baby sister so I don't think this is because of her? Every time he does it, he just says I need a new pair or it's ok I just need a new pair. ....NO IT'S NOT OK?!?! ugh so frustrated and don't know what to do to make him see you need to get to the bathroom faster!!! my husband and I have both tried to have conversations with him about it and everytime he acts like he understands but does it again!

  • He may just be as distracted by the new baby as you are. I've had to pay a bit more attention to our 3 year old's habits lately. She used to just go to the bathroom, now I catch her doing the pee pee dance and have to ask her if she has to go to get her to realize her need. She started this about a month before the birth and had a few accidents until I started monitoring her. I'm hoping she'll get back on track soon.

  • I think it is just a distraction thing. He starts moving back and forth and then you say ..do you have to go the the bathroom ... No... Me: go to the bathroom! ....HIm: I don't have to  then he will pee his pants within 10 minutes unless I make him go... Hopefully he gets back on track soon as well :(
