Pumping at work--directed towards teachers

Hello all! I am on the august 14' birth month board and was recommended to post my question here. I am only about two weeks out so not too close to going back to work yet. Naturally, I am already starting to stress about how I will pump at work (substitute teaching). Just curious if there are any subs/teachers/STM on here that pumped during the school day and how you went about it? Thanks!

Re: Pumping at work--directed towards teachers

  • I was an aide with my sweet pea and I used the restroom in the nurses office. She was a RN so she totally supported me being in there. I went at the same time everyday and if a student was there I just waited. Good luck!

  • I'm also a FTM and not back yet (had LO 8/27) but right now I'm planning on pumping right before school (8am), at lunch (noon), and after school (4pm). I am a classroom teacher and my door has a lock so I'm currently just planning on doing it in my room. I also have a mini-fridge in there I'll be able to store the milk in. It would be tough subbing and having a different schedule each day, good luck!

  • Hi! I just started back at work this week and teach K full time. I pump in a small, locked, private room three times a day- once before school (8am), once at lunch (11:30), and once after school (2:45). I find that I haven't had consistent ounces yet this week so I'm hoping after my body adjusts, I will be able to get a more consistent bottle each time. I am lucky enough to leave my things in the room during the day, so I pack a bag and leave them in it. I also store a cooler in the fridge and drop off each bottle as soon as it's made. At the end of the day, I take freezer packs out of the freeze so it's cold for the way home. So far so good. Good luck!
